Metro Chr., MJCA play to 2-2 deadlock
MADISON — Mt. Juliet Christian and host Metro Christian battled to a 2-2 draw Monday afternoon.
After Metro took a 1-0 lead, freshman Dylan Gammon assisted on back-to-back Saints scores as Mt. Juliet Christian went in front 2-1. Deano Richards tied the game before Corey Wills' head ball off Gammon's throwin put the visitors in front.
Metro Christian tied the score late in the first half on a tapin of a loose ball in front of the net.
"They're a very good team, well coached," Mt. Juliet Christian coach Lloyd Sharp said of Metro. "They had the majority of the play. It was such a hard-fought game by both teams. They were loaded with juniors and seniors. But our guys showed a lot of heart to come out with a draw."
Metro outshot Mt. Juliet Christian 19-11 with Justin Branim supplying eight saves for the Saints, who travel to Portland for a District 8-A-AA match at 7 p.m. Thursday.
