Mt. Juliet Christian succumbs to Cannon County

WOODBURY — Mt. Juliet Christian dropped a pair of 5-2 decisions at Cannon County on Monday.
The Saints led 2-1 after wins at No. 2 and 3 singles before the Lions roared to victory.
Singles winners for the Lions were Tobey Roesch over Josh McKenzie 8-5, Caleb Wagler over Jordan Bailey 8-4, Joe Womack over Sam Anderson 8-3 and Michael Hollis over Ben Brescka 8-2.
Doubles winners for Cannon County were Roesch and Andy DiMartino over McKenzie and Andrew Ziady 8-6 and Womack and Jordan Bailey over Anderson and Caleb Wagler 8-5.
Winners for the Saints were Ziady over DiMartino 8-2 and Wagler over Bailey 8-4.
The Lady Saints got wins from Nos. 1 and 2 singles as Kate Walker edged Rachel Young 9-7 and Cindy Overstreet stopped Lindsey Song 8-2.
But it was all Cannon the rest of the way as Candace Couch beat Chelsea Mobley 8-5, Sheree Fann shut out Lauren Osborne 8-0, Marianna Gigante defeated Hannah Jordan 8-1, Young and Song got past Walker and Overstreet 8-6 and Fann and Gigante outscored Mobley and Jordan 8-6.
Mt. Juliet Christian hosted Webb School on Saturday at Old Hickory Country Club with MJCA's boys and Webb's girls prevailing by identical 5-2 scores.
MJCA will travel to Sumner County to take on Station Camp at 3:30 p.m. today.
