Mt. Juliet's Roark perfect vs. Gallatin

MT. JULIET — Kenzie Roark pitched a five-inning perfect game Thursday afternoon as Mt. Juliet shut out Gallatin 12-0 at MJ League Park.
Roark struck out 13 of the 15 batters she faced while the Lady Bears scored in all four at-bats to run-rule the Lady Wave and improve to 7-3 for the season and 2-0 in District 9-AAA.
Shelby Barrett keyed a four-run first inning with a three-run double. She finished with a pair of hits and four runs batted in. Bijan Stegall and Britney Young both went 2-for-3 with two RBI with Young hitting a pair of run-scoring doubles.
Karli Rush hit a two-run single in a six-run fourth while Megan Matthews and Amy Buwalda both had RBI singles. Lindsey Halliburton rounded out the hit parade.
Mt. Juliet will travel to Hendersonville's Drakes Creek Park at 4 p.m. Tuesday to take on the Lady Commandos.

Lady Saints get first win for Echols
MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet Christian scored in all four of its at-bats Wednesday to hand first-year coach Emily Echols her first win, a 15-2 thumping of Lighthouse.
The Lady Saints' nine-hit parade was more than enough for Courtney Harris, who allowed two hits and two walks while striking out 11 in five innings as Mt. Juliet Christian climbed to 1-2 for the season.
Leanna Sanders singled twice and doubled for Mt. Juliet Christian while Cali Beard doubled. Sisters Ashley and Paige Hudson each had two singles and Harris one.
Mt. Juliet Christian will travel to Franklin's Fly Field today for the Middle Tennessee Softball Coaches Association Tournament. The Lady Saints will face Livingston Academy at 3 p.m. and Hillwood at 7:30.
