Pitching propels Lebanon into playoffs
July 23, 2008—GLADEVILLE — Thank the pitching. After winning three in a row entering Tuesday's play, Lebanon's Bulldogs closed the CABA 14-under World Series pool play with a controversial 6-4 loss to the South Oakland A's and a 3-1 setback to the previously winless Washington Brewers, both at Wilson Central. The Bulldogs were one of seven teams who finished 3-3 and tied for eighth place. Only the top eight pool teams advanced to today's double-elimination round. But Lebanon's 18 runs allowed was the best among the 3-3 teams, sending the Bulldogs into an 11 a.m. meeting with the top-seeded East Cobb Yankees, the only team to go through pool play unscathed, at Veterans Field.
