Ruby Cook
Services for Mrs. Cook will be 1 p.m.Monday, Nov. 30, from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with Bishop Gordon Lee and her Pastor, Bishop Alvin Hitchcock officiating. Interment will follow in Wilson County Memorial Park.
Mrs. Cook, 91, of the Rome Community, passed away Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 at University Medical Center in Lebanon, where she had been hospitalized since Nov. 21. She was a retired cook at Baileysville High School and after moving to Tennessee was employed at Genesco. She was a member of the Carthage Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander "Alex" and Lavina Ellen "Vinnie" Dolan Blankenship; siblings, a sister who died as an infant and a brother, George W. Blankenship; husband of 39 years, Haskell Carman Cook; grandson, John Barry Cook; son, Carman Cook; great-granddaughter, Victoria Cook.
Survivors include: sons, James (Faye) Cook, Archie (Macie) Cook and Kevin Cook and special friend, Lisa Carter, all of the Rome Community; brother, Lurther (Irene) Blankenship of Beckley, W.V.; sister-in-law, Sylvia Cook of Lebanon; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Hazel Hunt
Services for Mrs. Hunt will be 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 30, from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with Bishop Ronnie Banks and her Pastor, Sister Patsy Vinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Smith County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 29, from 3-8 p.m. and on Monday, after 9 a.m.
Mrs. Hunt, 92, of Carthage, passed away Friday, Nov. 27, 2009 at the Riverview Regional Medical Center in Carthage of complications of a debilitating stroke suffered Nov. 24. She was a retired dietitian for the Fort Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio. She retired in 1971 and returned to Carthage to live out her retirement. She was a member of the Emanuel Church of Christ at Chestnut Mound.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Fowler Scott and Hattie Mary Ella Kerr Scott; siblings, Mary Scott Grisham and Gene Scott; husband, Charlie Robert Hunt Sr.; sons, Harold Gleen Hunt and Walter Hunt of Hamilton, Ohio, who passed away of an apparent heart attack on Thanksgiving morning. His mother did not realize he had died only hours before her death occurred.
Survivors include: adopted daughter, Lynda Hunt Ferguson of Middletown, Ohio; son, Charlie Robert "Bobby" Hunt Jr. of Carthage; sister, Maurine (Earl) Ramsey of Lebanon; brother, Kenneth Scott of Lebanon; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Daniel Jeremiah Parks
Services for Daniel will be 6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec.1, at Bond Memorial Chapel with Bishop A.J. Valentine Jr. officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service on Tuesday.
Daniel passed away Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at three months of age.
Survivors include: parents, Kevin Parks Jr. and Shelby Kennedy; sister, Carmondy Parks; paternal grandparents, Kevin Parks Sr. and Juanita Montgomery; maternal grandparents, Michael Kennedy and Cathy Bettini.
