Ruby Kent

Joel Ray Bowers

Mr. Bowers, age 59, passed away at his home on Feb. 5, 2013, in Lebanon.

Joel was born and raised in Donelson, where he graduated from McGavock High School in 1972.

He was retired from American Airlines since 2008. He also owned and operated Bowers Septic Service in Lebanon.

Joel is survived by his two children, Courtney Paige and Joshua Trey; mother, Jon Rhea Bowers; brothers, Randy Bowers (Alma), Mike Bowers; sisters, Janice Lavendar (Hardy) and Glynda Bowers, all of Kingston Springs, Jeannie Gayle Hodges (Jimmy), of Smyrna; eight nieces and nephews; nine great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert "Dee" Bowers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Henley, Terry Jackson, Brian Gibson, Shayne Lavendar, Blake Bowers, Billy Birdwell, Greg Gibson, J.W. Hunt and Dale DeMoss.

Visitation will be Feb. 17 from noon until 2 p.m. with the memorial service at 2 p.m., followed by a celebration of life in the Community Center at Burns Park in Kingston Springs.

Nashville Funeral and Cremation is in charge of arrangements.

Christine Eskew Evans

Funeral services for Mrs. Evans are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10 at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with the Rev. David Hesson and the Rev. Mark Youngman officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 4-7 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. until service time at Ligon & Bobo.

Mrs. Evans, 98, of Lebanon passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at University Medical Center.

Born June 16, 1914 in Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Lawrence and Jennie Axelson Eskew. She worked at Axelson Florist for 50 years. She was a member of Gladeville United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Haskell Evans in 1990; sister, Flora Adamson; and five brothers, Charles, Ralph, Paul, Philip and Alfred Eskew.

“She loved us and would want us to know that what we have all enjoyed in our lives we can never lose, so laugh and remember her as if she was beside you. God will get one of his angels back for another assignment.” –her family.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Eskew, Tony Eskew, Sam Eskew, Whit Adamson, Keith Davis, and Vic Adamson.

Memorials may be made to the Gladeville United Methodist Church or to Hearthside Assisted Living.

Ruby Floyd Kent

Visitation for Mrs. Kent will be held on Sunday, Feb. 10 from 2-6 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 11 from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 11 a.m. in the Partlow Funeral Chapel. Pastor Forrest Creekmore will officiate the service. Interment will be in Wilson Co. Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Kent passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6 in the Pavilion. Mrs. Kent attended Immanuel Baptist Church, and was a former employee with Hartmann Luggage and TRW Ross Gear.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley and Willie Floyd; husband, Johnnie Kent; two sisters, Frances and Telia; two brothers, Frank and Dean Kent.

She is survived by brother, Johnnie Clayborn; special friends, James Estes, Myra Bane, Traci and Tyler Mason; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Todd Clayborn, Jackie Barrett, Chris Barrett and friends of Mrs. Kent.

Sam Milligan, Jr.

Visitation for Mr. Milligan will be Tuesday Feb. 12 from 11 a.m.-noon with funeral to follow at JC Hellum Funeral Home. Rev. Jeffery Buford Eulogist. Interment will be in Jennings Cemetery, Statesville.

Mr. Milligan, 89, Mt. Juliet, died Feb. 6, 2013.

Survivors include wife, Mary A. Milligan; children, Alicia Tharpe, Melvina and Maurice Milligan; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Amos Hawkins “Skeebo” Moss

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Jon Green and Rich Tiner officiating. Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Moss, 78, of Mt. Juliet, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013. Mr. Moss was a member of the Mt. Juliet First Church of God. He was an avid DCA Athletics supporter and fan. Mr. Moss was the son of the late Charlie B. and Elizabeth Eatherley Moss. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Moss and son, Phillip Dale Moss.

He is survived by children, Charles (Debbie) Moss, Johnny Moss and Linda Moss; grandchildren, Samantha (Jason) Smith, Sydney (Jim) Seat, Billy Moss and Jessie (Steven) Like; great-grandchildren, Bailey Moss, Karaline Smith, Lila Kate Smith and Bryson Moss.

Active pallbearers will be Calvin Theiring, Joseph Theiring, Justin Theiring, Richie Bilbrey, Barton Hughes, and Glenn Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Donny Cook, Gary Frye, Raymond McDaniel and past and present DCA staff and students.

Delmar L. Spurlock

Mr. Spurlock, 76, of Smithville, died Wednesday at Dekalb Community Hosp. in Smithville.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hunter Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. till service time on Sunday. Interment will be at the Spurlock Cemetery in Statesville.
