Bessie Thompson

Jackie Owen Baldwin

Mr. Baldwin, 69, passed away on March 30, 2013. The family will have a private graveside service.

Survivors include wife of 39 years, Pat Baldwin; daughter, Kim Baldwin; sister, Becky Jarvis; brothers, Nathaniel (Jean) Baldwin and Michael Baldwin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents, Maude and Lovie Satterfield Baldwin; and brothers, Dee and William Baldwin.  Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon is in charge of arrangements.

Martha Ann Bass

Visitation for Ms. Bass will be held on Monday, April 1, 2013, from 4-8 p.m. in the Partlow Funeral Chapel in Lebanon. Graveside services will be Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Bass Family Cemetery.

Ms. Bass, age 61, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013,  after a lengthy battle with ALS.

She was born Dec. 25, 1951, daughter of the late Shelby Allen and Mattie L. Bass. She is survived by adopted family Dan, Elaine and Stephen Moss; several cousins; and numerous friends.

She was a member of the Hartsville Church of Christ. She was a proud graduate of Trousdale County High School
and David Lipscomb College. She worked in medical research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for 39 years. She was a loyal fan of both Trousdale County football and Vanderbilt University Lady Commodore basketball.

William F. 'Buck' Harris

Funeral services for Mr. Harris are scheduled for Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Brother Wayne Hunt officiating. Interment will be in the Harris Family Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2-8 p.m. and Tuesday after 10 a.m. at Ligon & Bobo.

Mr. Harris, age 88, of Lebanon, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013, at University Medical Center.

Born December 20, 1924, in Wilson County, he is the son of the late Coleman and Lissie Mofield Harris.  He was a farmer and mechanic and a member of Flat Rock Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Odis M. Harris and a sister, Frances E. Harris.

He is survived by a niece, Marie Harris; nephew, Donald Harris; and numerous cousins.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Swindell, Robert Hall, Jimmy Watson, Mike Mofield, Joe Winfree, Billy Harris, Dalton Harris, and Phillip Harris.

Bessie Harvey

Graveside services for Ms. Harvey will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 3 at the Salem Cemetery in Liberty. Visitation with the family will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Ms. Harvey, 95, of Watertown, died Monday morning, April 1, 2013 at NHC Health Care in Smithville. Born in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Lura Craddock Adams.

She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Paul Crook; sister, Veda Mae Loveless and brothers, Vale, John C. and H.D. Adams.

Bessie is survived by her daughter, Gail Crook of Watertown; sister-in-law, Betty Adams of Mt. Juliet; nephews, Ray Lewis Adams of Knoxville and Robert Vale Adams of Charlotte, N.C.; nieces, Gloria Wakefield and Cathey Elliot both of Old Hickory and Veda Wolfe of Leesburg, Va.

Betty Sue McMillan

The Funeral Service for Mrs. McMillan will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 3. Interment will be in Wilson County Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon (at Stone Mansion, 416 Rome Pike) on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service.

Mrs. McMillan, 73, passed away on April 1, 2013.

Survivors include husband, Comer Dale McMillan; children, Joyce (Henry) Verbeke, Billy Joe Markwell, Roger (Kim) McMillan and Diane Denson; grandchildren, Pamela Jarvis, Christy McLennan, Patricia Dale (Brad) Burrows, Alexandrea (Jesse) Mofield, Autumn (Spencer) Fields, Billy Denson and Lisa Denson; great-grandchildren, Betty Sue, Randy, Mason, Matthew, Destiny, Jesse Jr., Blake and Pearson Dale; and siblings, Charles “Peanut” Johnson and Francis (Coy) Hollaway.

She was preceded in death by parents, Archie and Josephine Johnson; children, David Ray Markwell and Eddie McMillan; siblings, Butch Johnson, Jane Harris and Kenny Johnson; and grandson, Mark Barrett.

Thomas Gregory Parker

Memorial services for Mr. Parker, conducted by the Rev. Danny Sellars, will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 3 at Sellars Funeral Home (at Stone Mansion, 416 Rome Pike) in Lebanon. Visitation is on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the service.

Mr. Parker, 46, passed away on March 29, 2013.

Survivors include children, Elizabeth (Corey) Andrews and Thomas Gregory Parker Jr.; parents, Guy and Donna Parker; brother, Chris Parker; and aunts, Peggy (Ronald) Oaks and Carla (Dee) Ray.

Robert Lee Shannon

Mr. Shannon will lie in state Wednesday, April 3 from 3–6 p.m. at Nelson & Sons Memorial Chapel 824 Lipscomb St, Shelbyville. Second lie in state will be Thursday, April 4 at the Hwy 231 Church of Christ 4331 Shelbyville Hwy, Murfreesboro from 10–11 a.m. Family visitation will be 11 a.m. with funeral to follow at noon. Burial will at the Johnson Road Cemetery in Christiana.

Mr. Shannon, 59, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013. He is survived by loving wife of 27 years, Jimmie Gertrude Shannon; three daughters Debra Hasting, LaVonda and Shari Nelson; five granddaughters, three grandsons and one great-grandson; three sisters, Dorothy McKinney, Virginia Seay and Marie Black; three brothers, Andrew, Charlie and Joe Shannon.

Mrs. Thompson, 89, of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013, at home surrounded by her family. Born Dec. 25, 1923, in Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late Elzie H. and Ruth Pulley Nokes. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Twin States Iris Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Shelah G. Thompson on March 7, 2011; two sisters, Katherine Eddins and Pearl Davis; and three brothers, Lonnie, Clyde and Thomas Cleveland Nokes.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda (David) Collier and Barbara Thompson; two grandsons, Brian (Jennifer) Collier and Andrew Collier; two great-grandchildren, Calie and Will Collier; several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Twin States Iris Society and the Ruth Sunday School Class. Active pallbearers will be David, Brian and Andrew Collier; Eddie Vaught, Ronald Nokes, Wayne Davis and Tim Davis.

Phillip Wilson

Funeral services for Mr. Wilson will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2 at Doak Howell Funeral Home with interment at Tuckers Crossroad Cemetery.

Mr. Wilson, 64, of Wartrace, Tenn. and The Villages, Fla., passed away Friday, March 29, 2013. Phillip was born in Lebanon, but a love of Tennessee Walking Horses drew him to Bedford County, where he opened his own training facility in 1977. During his career, Phillip won 11 World Championships, including three World Grand Championships.

He was preceded in death by parents, Claude Wilson and Ruth (LaFever) Wilson, and brother, Louie Wilson.

Survivors include wife, Emily (Snyder) Wilson; daughters, Kelly and husband, Keith Williams, and Tara and husband, Chad Boyce; and 10 grandchildren, Shelby, Austin, Wilson, Colton, Bryce, Briley Kay, Brianna, Brooklyn, Brooke and Morgan.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Phillip Wilson Memorial Fund at First Community Bank of Shelbyville.

Randy "Coach" Vanatta

Funeral services for Mr. Vanatta are planned for Thursday, April 4 in the new Lebanon High School Auditorium at 6 p.m. with visitation there from 4 p.m. until services. Bro. Jonathan Richerson and Bro. Jeremy Vanatta will officiate the services. A private graveside service will be Friday in the Brush Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 3 from 2-8 p.m. in the Partlow Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Vanatta, 58, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013. Randy was a member of West Haven Baptist Church and a coach and teacher with Lebanon High School for 30 years. He was a 1972 graduate of Lebanon High School where he excelled in basketball and baseball wearing the number 30, while under the direction of Coach Hester Gibbs and Coach Brent Foster. He attended Cumberland College and played basketball under the direction of Coach Cliff Ellis, and was also a member of the baseball team. A 1976 graduate of M.T.S.U., Randy was an avid Tennessee Titans, New York Yankees and Tennessee Vols fan.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mary Elizabeth Patterson Vanatta; uncle, Roy Young Tarpley.

Survived by daughter, Asia Vanatta; brother, Ryan (Teresa) Vanatta; niece, Melanie Vanatta (Bruce) Currin; nephews, Brad (Kim) Vanatta and Wayne (Shawnn) Ferrell; son, Troy Bond; special friends, Cindy Greer Reavis and Evan Reavis; beloved pet, Sugar; numerous family, friends and students.

Active pallbearers will be Terry Stephens, Mike Guinn, Bobby Patterson, Jim "Buckwheat" Majors, Scott Benson, Randall Hutto, Campbell Brandon and Jerry Paul Vanatta. Honorary pallbearers will be Hester Gibbs, Jerry Triplett, Bob Lowe, Mark Thorne, Mike Alexander, William Farmer and Tim Stephens.
