Bulldogs play in Nashville tonight

With almost two weeks between the conference tournament and the NAIA Championship Opening Round, Cumberland has added a game for tonight at long-time rival Trevecca Nazarene at 6:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs also dropped two spots in this week’s coaches’ top 25 to No. 13 in the nation.

Cumberland and TNU will play at Jackson Field on TNU's Nashville campus. Lights were installed at the facility for this season, with the Trojans posting a 21-8 record at home. The Bulldogs are 56-24 all-time against Trevecca Nazarene after TNU’s 7-4 win in Lebanon on April 17 and CU is 22-12 all-time at Jackson Field versus the Trojans.

Cumberland dropped two spots to No. 13 in this week’s NAIA coaches’ top 25 after going 1-2 in the Mid-South Conference Championships in Kingsport;. The Bulldogs defeated Shawnee State, 3-1, before dropping a 2-0 decision to Campbellsville; in 11 innings. Georgetown College eliminated CU from the tournament with a 7-2 victory.

The Bulldogs will learn where and whom it will play in the NAIA Championship Opening Round by noon Monday. The five-team tournament will run May 9-13 at nine different sites around the nation, including Cleveland and Kingsport in Tennessee; Montgomery, Ala.; Hattiesburg, Miss.; Joliet, Ill.; Daytona Beach, Calif.; Oklahoma City, Okla.; Claremore, Okla.; and Santa Clarita, Calif.
