From staff reports
Katie Legge has been extended an invitation to participate in the 2013 NAIA Women’s Golf Championships as an individual at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb., on May 21-24.
The Portland native was named Mid-South Conference Co-Player of the Year at the conference tournament last month after winning low medalist honors at league events in September and April – the Don Bishop Invitational and the SEKI/MSC Invitational. The sophomore won four times this academic year and finished in the Top 6 in six of eight events.
Legge will tee off at 9:10 a.m. CDT on Tuesday along with Carroll College’s Jackie Mee and Peru State’s Jordan Schaardt and the same threesome will tee off at 2:40 p.m. on May 22 on the par-71, 5,965-yard course.
Legge is taking the place of Biola University’s Ava Lourence, who decided to turn professional before the tournament and informed the NAIA of her decision after the initial list of individuals for the NAIA Championships was announced on May 9.
