From staff reports

Cumberland men’s soccer coach Kyle Smith announced the 2013 schedule this week, which includes seven home matches as well as a tournament in Nashville.

The Bulldogs will open the season Aug. 28 at Tennessee Wesleyan and head to Brescia on Aug. 31 before opening the home schedule Sept. 5 versus Union University.

CU will take on Union College and Martin Methodist on the road before taking part in the Trevecca Nazarene Invitational, facing Indiana Wesleyan and Trinity International on Sept. 13-14.

Cumberland will begin Mid-South Conference play Sept. 17, playing host to Campbellsville at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field. The Bulldogs will take on long-time rival Trevecca Nazarene at home on Sept. 24 and also play home matches versus Pikeville, Lindsey Wilson, Bluefield and Georgia Gwinnett, all in October. CU will play four of its final six matches of the season at home after beginning the year with 12 of 15 outings on the road.

Cumberland will face road conference tilts at Shawnee State, St. Catharine, the University of the Cumberlands, Georgetown College and Rio Grande. The Bulldogs will return 19 letterwinners from last year’s club that finished 7-10-1 overall. The club finished the year 6-3-1 in October and November after a slow start.
