William Hugh Buchanan

Services for Mr. Buchanan will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Bro. David Shannon and Rev. Jo Ann Nichols officiating. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday and from noon until service on Saturday.

Mr. Buchanan, 63, of Smyrna, passed away on Aug. 6, 2008.

He was preceded in death by son, Jesse Buchanan; parents, Jessie and Georgia Buchanan; and brother, Arthur Luffman.

Survivors include: sons, William (Shannon) and Larry (Helen) Buchanan; daughter, Mildred (Jimmy) Porter; brothers, Bobby (Nan) Luffman, Charles (Pam) Buchanan, Gary (Cathy) Buchanan, and Dennis (Kay) Buchanan; sister, Nancy DeWit; granddaughter, Ariana Buchanan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Nell Douglas

Services for Mrs. Douglas will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9 at Hellum Funeral Home with the Rev. Andray Clemons officiating. Interment will be in Vantrease Cemetery in Watertown. Visitation will be noon until the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Douglas, 96, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008 at Cedars Health Care.

Survivors include: daughters, Helen Ruth Thomas of Chicago, Ill. and Lucille (Ben) Thompson of Watertown; son, Billy (Barbara) Douglas of Watertown; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 36 great-great-grandchildren; and daughters-in-law, Mary, Betty and Joyce Douglas.

Benjamin R. Heilman

Services for Mr. Heilman will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Bro. Danny Sellars officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Mr. Heilman, 78, of Nashville, passed away Aug. 7, 2008.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Heilman. Survivors include: sons, Terry, Danny, and Rick Heilman; daughters, Geraldine (Denny) Vanderboom, Debbie Heilman, and Tammy (Dennis) Worley; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Jo Ann Hicks

Services for Mrs. Hicks will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Hunter Funeral Home with Elder Leon White officiating. Interment will be in Jones Hill Cemetery. Visitation will Friday from 1-8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. until service.

Mrs. Hicks, 63, of Watertown, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at Alive Hospice at Saint Thomas Hospital.

She was preceded in death by special grandparents, James and Edna Stinnett; mother, Mildred Louise (Stinnett) Roberts; brothers, Roy and Ray Roberts; son, David Thompson and stepsons, Randall and Robert Hicks.

Survivors include: husband, Tom Hicks of Watertown; children, Jimmy (Jane) Thompson of Louisville, Ky., Joseph (Kim) Hicks of Lebanon, Brad (Stephanie) Hicks of Lebanon, Dee Hicks of Lebanon and Amy (Elliot) Persinger of Watertown; stepchildren, Christy (Lynn) Tisdale of Brush Creek and Betty (Danny) Prater of Smithville; 24 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Pat (Gary) Aikens of Lebanon, Cathy (Stanley) Everett of Lenoir City, Susie Cobb of Lenoir City and Evelyn (Tiny) Craig; numerous nieces and nephews; special aunt and uncle, Dee and Faye Stinnett of Lenoir City; special cousin, Linda Presley of Lenoir City and special friend, Mary Jo Hicks of Murfreesboro.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jason Thompson, Kyle Hicks, Gregory Hicks, Austin Thompson, Zach Hicks and Tim Hicks. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Cameron Wells and Brayden Hicks and special friend, Michael Drake.

Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Vela Pearl Hicks Usrey

Services for Mrs. Usrey will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9 at Partlow Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Hesson officiating. Interment will be in Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Usrey, 89, of Lebanon, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008 at University Medical Center. She was an employee at the Kroger on College Street in Lebanon and also worked for Piggly Wiggly on North Cumberland. She later worked for Kenneth O. Lester and then Performance Food Group, from which she retired after 34 years. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church Lebanon.

She was preceded in death by parents, Joe and Sallie Hicks; husband, W.T. "Dub" Usrey; daughter, Barbara Ann Usrey; brothers, Delbert, Ophard, Isaac and James Hicks; and sisters, Nell Mouney, Evelyn Brewster and Roxie Hardiwick. Survivors include: son, Elgan (Edwin Ann) Usrey of Lebanon; granddaughters, Heather (Richard) Clements of Chattanooga and Laurel (Gregg) Key of Lebanon; great-grandchildren, Daniel and Stephen Clements of Chattanooga and Holly and Mason Key of Lebanon; sisters, Bertha McClane of Monticello, Ky. and Juanita (Bill) Roberts of Crystal Springs, Miss.; sister-in-law, Faye Hicks of Springfield, Ill.; brother-in-law, Keith Brewster of Findley, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Richard and Daniel Clements, Gregg Key, Estil Hicks, Ernie Wingo and Gene Usrey.
