1st Lt. William Eric Emmert

Mr. Emmert, 36, of Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009 in Mosul, Iraq. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1991, and served in the United States Army from 1991-1996 as a Counter Intelligence Agent. He had achieved the rank of sergeant at his discharge. His tours included Korea, Germany and Cuba. He graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 1999, Cum Laude.
While attending MTSU, he served as a member of the Nissan Fire Brigade. He entered the Tennessee National Guard in 1996 as a sergeant. He served on the Governor's Task Force on Marijuana Eradication attached to the Memphis Organized Crime Unit in 1996, and as a Tennessee State Trooper from 2000-2007.
He served on the Governor's Security detail in 2005, Special Agent for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation from 2007-2008, until called to serve in Iraq. He was promoted to second lieutenant in the Tennessee National Guard in January 2006, followed by his promotion to first lieutenant January 2008.
He served as a Platoon Leader in the 1st Platoon 269th Military Police Company in Iraq since January 2009.
He was preceded in death by sister, Margery Catherine Emmert; and grandparents, Howard Lee and Catherine Climer Edwards, Victor Jacob and Margery Rousseau Emmert.
Survivors include: parents, Bill and Brenda Edwards Emmert; special girl in his life, Paige Garrard; aunt, Marcia Emmert (Frank) Norcom; uncle, Wayne (Cora) Edwards; cousins, Margery Norcom (Ken) Hilburn, Michelle Edwards (Donald) Walker, and Teresa Edwards; Bryson, Erin, Amy Hilburn. Kayla, Dalton, Madison Walker; Melissa and Ashley Edwards; great-aunts, Jennie Rousseau Tedeschi, Norma Rousseau Burgdorf, Mary Emmert, Evelyn Climer Lancaster and Lois Climer (Dan) Shafer; many other cousins; special cousin, Charles (Dean) Vantrease; and special aunt, Lois Moody.

Peggy Jean Horton
Services for Ms. Horton will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at JC Hellum Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Raymond Burns and the Rev. Jeffrey Huddleston officiating. Interment will be in Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday, March 1, from 1-2 p.m.
Ms. Horton, 65, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at her residence.
Survivors include: children, Sherry Stafford, Edgar (Gail) Horton Jr., Janet Brooks, Lisa (Patrick) Maynard, Lynn (Henry) Horton and Kevin Huddleston; step-son, Scottie McLennon; 18 grandchildren and relatives and friends.
