Verner W. Bates
Services for Mr. Bates will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 13 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Rev. Chuck Groover and Bro. John Brown officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 13, from 3 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
Mr. Bates, 88, of Mt. Juliet died Saturday, May 9, 2009. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from Ford Glass Plant. He was also a member of Center Chapel Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Grayson "Jack" and Ruth Lawrence Bates; sisters, Bettie Sue Bates and Lucy M. Bates; nephew, Tony Meadows.
Survivors include: wife of 59 years, Myra Burnett Bates; sister, Virginia Bates (Garland) Meadows of Lebanon; nephews, Walter "Butch" Heckman, Grayson "Pete" Heckman and Tim Heckman; nieces, Myra Simms and Austelle Smartt; several great-nieces and great-nephews and lifelong friends; caregivers, Dorothy Carter, Florence Fulgham, Lisa Harris, Deborah Johnson and Wanda Walker.
Active pallbearers will be nephews and great-nephews.
Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Center Chapel Church of Christ Building Fund.
Jefferey 'Jeff' Lee Stone
Service arrangements for Mr. Stone are incomplete at this time. Partlow Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Stone, 31, of Lebanon died Saturday, May 10, 2009 in a motorcycle accident.
Belle May Smith
Services for Mrs. Smith will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2009 in the Partlow Funeral Chapel with Bro. Larry Kelley officiating. Interment will be in Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday, May 11, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Partlow Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Smith, 98, of Mt. Juliet passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2009 at University Center Medical. She was a homemaker and a member of the Suggs Creek Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Maude May; husband, Robert Cantrell Smith; son, Delbert Smith; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Smith; great-grandson, Robert Michael Smith; brother, J. D. May, and sister, Jessie Harkreader.
Survivors include her son, Nealand (Martha) Smith; brother, Roy May; sisters, Robbie Eakes & Earlene (Nick) Nixon; grandchildren, Mike (Grace) Smith, Steve (Margaret) Smith, Ricky (Debbie) Smith, & Troy (Linda) Smith; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bill Hicks, Donnie Eakes, Claude Jordan, Silas Dunn, Larry Nixon, Jeff May and Ronnie May. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Harkreader, Mike Walker, Robert Bland and Jeff Fennessey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Suggs Creek Presbyterian Church or to the charity of your choice.
Mary Williams Watson
Services for Mrs. Watson will be 11 a.m., Monday, May 11 at Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Bell officiating. Interment will be in Williams Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and prior to services on Monday.
Mrs. Watson, 96, of Watertown passed away on Friday, May 8, 2009 at Quality Care Health Center in Lebanon. She was a graduate of Norene School and a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Myrtle Williams; husband, Roscoe Watson; son, Bill Watson; four brothers and sisters.
Survivors include: daughters, Faye Scott and Gay Taliaferro of Chattanooga; daughter-in-law, Glenda Watson; grandchildren, Glenn (Judy) Watson of Gallatin and Dr. Tony (Lisa) Watson of Georgia; great-grandchildren, Ryan (Emily) Watson of USAF, London, England and Alex and Joshua Watson of Georgia; great-great-grandson, Asher Watson.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Watson, Tony Watson, Raleigh Conquest, Phillip Williams, Jimmy Williams and Junior Lannom.
Annie Ray Stephens Wilkerson
Services for Mrs. Wilkerson will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 13 at Ligon and Bobo Funeral Home in Lebanon with Bro. Barry Keene and Bro. Michael Grooms officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 12, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time.
Mrs. Wilkerson, 89, of Lebanon passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Pavilion Care. She was a homemaker and a member of Highland Heights Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Lewis Oscar Wilkerson; sister, Fannie (Jim) Baynes; brothers, Will Henry Stephens and Thurman (Isabell) Stephens.
Survivors include: children, Shirley Ann (Jimmy) Davis and Robert Lewis (Debi) Wilkerson of Lady Lake, Fla.; grandchildren, Gregory Dale Davis, Jackie Lewis Wilkerson, Jeffery Lester Wilkerson, Scotty Allen Wilkerson, Kyla Joy Wilkerson, Kaylee Wilkerson; five great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
