Sylvia B. Hooper Crossland Eakes

Services for Mrs. Eakes will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11 at Bond Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Lawrence Kelley officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Eakes, 72, of Mt. Juliet, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008. She attended Suggs Creek Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Mt. Juliet Senior Citizens Center, the BPW and IAPES. She retired as a supervisor from Benefit Payment Control for the State of Tennessee with 41 years of service.

She was preceded in death by parents, Joseph Harrison and Ellie Cleo Neighbors Hooper; and grandmother, Amelia Neighbors. Survivors include: daughter, Stephanie Crossland (Joe) Carlton of Collierville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Meredith and Grant Carlton of Collierville; sisters, Ellie Ruth (William R. ) Smith Sr., Helen Harrison (Roger) Whitley and Myrna (Willard) Short, all of Nashville; nieces and nephews, Pat West, Cindy Young, William Smith Jr., David Smith, Stacy Parrish and David Whitley; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be Joe and Grant Carlton, Kurt Eichenberger, Billy Fredebeil, Donn Gear and Eddie Goff. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Duggan and Teressa Duggan Gear.

James Richard "Jim" Gilleland

Memorial services for Mr. Gilleland will be noon Thursday, Sept. 11 at Tom M. Wages Funeral Service in Snellville, Ga. with the Rev. David Gilleland officiating. Interment will be in Eternal Hills Memory Gardens in Snellville. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Gilleland, 69, of Lebanon, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008 at University Medical Center. He was a member of Smyrna First Baptist Church and the Grand Lodge of Georgia F & AM - Snellville. He was a retired sales representative and a farmer.
Survivors include: wife of 36 years, Carolyn Burt Gilleland; their children, Clint Russell (Kim) Gilleland of Smyrna and Kimberly Nicole (Curt) Hartley of Murfreesboro; sons, Philip (Catherine) Gilleland of Loganville, Ga., Brian Lee Gilleland of Nashville and Douglas Eric (Catherine) Gilleland of Social Circle, Ga. and their mother, Myrna Hewatt Huntley of Greene, N.Y.; mother, Gladys Wilson Gilleland of Snellville; grandchildren, Ashlee, Lucas, Rachel, Sam, Ian, Cole, Brooke and Wyatt Gilleland; Addison Hartley; and brothers, Larry Edwin (Anne), Rev. David (Carol) and Donald Eugene (Pam) Gilleland, all of Snellville.

Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Clair Suddarth

Memorial services for Mr. Suddarth will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11 at Sellars Funeral Home with Bro. Russ Stephens officiating. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Suddarth, 51, of Lebanon, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008 at his residence.

He was preceded in death by mother, Hilda Suddarth. Survivors include: father, George Suddarth of Lebanon; siblings, Dr. Wes (Pat) Suddarth of Lebanon and Linda (John) Aufderhar of Huntsville, Ala.; and nephews, Wesley M. Suddarth of Lebanon and Mike and David Miller, both of Huntsville.
