Ruth Gray James
Services for Mrs. James will be 1 p.m. today at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Elder Dee Russell officiating. Internment will follow at the Crestview Memorial Park in Gallatin. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the service Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. James, 76, of Lebanon died Fri., Sept. 5, 2008 at the Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin.
Born Sept. 19, 1931 in Wilson County, she and her husband operated James' Fruit Stand in Gallatin from 1967-1972. She was a homemaker and a member of the Laguardo Baptist Church where she taught a children's Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. and Eleanor Burton Gray and a brother, Jimmy Gray.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, W. H. James Sr.; six children, W. H. (Priscilla) James Jr. and William "Bill" (Peggy Sue) James, all of Oak Grove, Tenn., Annette (Horace) Darnell of Lebanon; Debbie Todd of Bethpage; Lynne James Lynch and Patricia James, both of Lebanon; two sisters, Peggy (Joe) Leath and Doris (David) McWilliams, all of Mt. Juliet; two brothers, Tommy (Lorene) Gray and Ralph (Ruth) Gray of Lebanon; sister-in-law, Shirley Gray of Mt. Juliet; 10 grandchildren, Pennie (Dave) Bergman, Tammie (Dwight) Prock, Jesse (Jennifer) James, Billy (Tamara) James, Amanda (Russell) Breece, Samantha (Shanon) Reed, Walter (Melissa) Todd Jr., Chris Todd, Kenny (Brandi) Lynch and Kelly Lynch; 12 great grandchildren.
Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
Erwin G. "Erv" Marquardt
A memorial service for Mr. Marquardt will be scheduled in Lebanon at a later date. He and his wife, who passed away June 1, 2007, will be inurned today at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Columbarium in Elwood, Ill.
Mr. Marquardt, 87, died Aug. 25, 2008 in Orland Park, Ill. following a brief illness while visiting his daughter. Born Aug. 1, 1921 in Berwyn, Ill. to parents who immigrated to the U. S. from Germany. He was a WWII Air Force veteran stationed in the South Pacific. He retired from the United States Postal Service and was a member of the Bairds Mill Church of Christ. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, bowler and golfer. He and his wife, the late Geraldine "Jeri" Landrum Marquardt, made porcelain dolls for many years.
In additon to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Charles August and Anna Meyer Marquardt and three sisters.
Survivors include three children, Michael (Joyce) Cox of Berea, Ohio; Shelia Blaylock of Orland Park, Ill., and Sonja (Wallace) Hall of Elkin, N. C.; brother, Charles (Kay) Marquardt of Saint Germain, Wisc., sister-in-law, Marjorie Smith of Lebanon; two brothers-in-law, Paul (Reba) Holt of Lebanon and Robert (Barbara) Holt of Marietta, Geo.; six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

William Clyde Lewis
Services for Mr. Lewis will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9 at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown with Rev. Tim Diffenderfer officiating. Internment will be in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
Mr. Lewis, 84, of Alexandria, died Sat., Sept 6, 2008 at University Medical Center, Lebanon. A carpenter by trade, he was a member of Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church and a veteran of the U. S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Jennings and Mamie Bell Allen Lewis; brother, Robert Earl Lewis and infant sister, Mamie Ruth Lewis.
Survivors include wife, Julia Mae Hancock Lewis, Alexandria; son. Richard Allen (Betty) Lewis, Smithville; daughters, Marcia (Greg) Denton, Murfreesboro and Cheryl Diane Lewis of Lebanon; brother, Hartford (June) Lewis, Lebanon; sisters, Dorothy (Earl) West, Murfreesboro; Annette Elrod, Murfreesboro, Linda (Bob) Fuston, Smithville and Betty Lattimore of Liberty; sister-in-law, Lucille Lewis, Alexandria; grandchildren, Amanda (Shane) Maples, Sparta; Samantha Lewis and Lauren Lewis, Smithville; Maddie Denton, Murfreesboro; great grandchildren, Stephen and Daniel Lewis, nieces and nephews.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.

John W. Shankle
Services for Mr. Shankle will be 2 p.m. today at Center Chapel Church of Christ in Mt. Juliet with Bro. John Miller officiating. Internment will be in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be noon until service time today.
Mr. Shankle, 84, of Mt. Juliet, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008. A member of the Center Chapel Church of Christ where he served as a deacon, he founded Alexander Shankle General Contractors in 1958.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Newman and Addie Walker Shankle; siblings, J. Harold Shankle, Carl Shankle and Mozelle Brisendine and his son, John Robert "Bobby" Shankle.
Survivors include wife, Blanche Faircloth Shankle; son, David S. Shankle; daughter-in-law, Donna M. Shankle; brother, Cecil "N. C." (Louise) Shankle; sisters, Margaret Baker and Delora (Lewis) French; grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Haynes, Marissa (Alan) Hatcher, Sharon Shankle, Angela Shankle and Robert "R. J." Shankle; gret grandchildren, Justin Haynes, Victoria Dowdy, Peyton Haynes, Blake Propes, Matthew Haynes, Glayson Propes, Brynn Taylor and Jackson Hatcher.

Paul Allen Hester
Memorial services for Mr. Hester will be 4 p.m. today at Deaton Funeral Chapel in Red Bay, Ala. with Bro. Wayne Bumgart officiating. Visitation will be today from 3-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Hester, 50, formerly of Lebanon, died Fri., Sept. 5, 2008 at his residence.
Born Jan. 6, 1958 in Tennessee, he was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Helen Jones Hester and his brother, Randy Hester.
Survivors include father, Roy Lee Hester of Vina, Ala.; son, Aaron Hester of Lebanon; sisters, Regina Pardue of Vina, Ala., Cindy (Toby) Robbins and Tonya (Robert) Horan , both of Tampa, Fla.; brother, David (Liz) Hester of Red Bay; granddaughters, Bailey Hester and Shyann Hester; nephews, Sammy Pardue of Vina, Ala. and Adam Hester of Golden, Miss.; first wife, Vikki Heydel of Lebanon.
Services for Mrs. Castleman wil be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10 at Sellars Funeral Home in Mt. Juliet with Bro. Ronnie Smith officiating. Internment will be in Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tues., Sept. 9 from 3 - 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wed.
Mrs. Castleman, 80, of Mt. Juliet, passed away Sat., Sept. 6, 2008.
She was preceded in death by her son, Roger Dale Castleman and daughter, Carolyn Marie Castleman.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Robert Castlemn; sons, Wayne Castleman and his finace, Joy Smith, and Brandon Kelley; Daughters, Kathy Castleman and special friend, Steve, Jennifer Spears and Brooke Murphy; brother, Robert (Jeanette) Poison; sister, Mabel (Carson) Castleman.

Sadie Shoemake Agee
Services for Mrs. Agee were held yesterday at Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes with Elder Junior Dickerson and Elder James Thomas Gibbs officiating. Internment was in Brush Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Agee, 96, of Brush Creek, died Friday, Sept. 5. 2008 at her residence. Born July 1, 1912 in Elmwood, Tenn., she was a homemaker and the longest living member of Plunkett's Creek Missionary Baptist Church at Rock City where she was baptized and joined the church in 1936.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Velvin Agee; parents, Nancy Grisham and Landy Layton Shoemake; brothers, Horace, Seldon, Marshall and Luther Shoemake; sister, Gertie Green.
