George Melvin Hocker Sr.

Services for Mr. Hocker will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Phil Barnes officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hocker, 87, of Old Hickory, died April 21, 2008. He was a veteran of World War II. He retired from Genesco Shoe Company after 53 years of service and was owner of Mt. Juliet Skate Inn from 1980 to 1984.

Survivors include: wife of 66 years, Dorothy Hocker; children, George (Jan) Hocker, Jr. of McKinney, Texas, Terry(Kathy) Hocker of Harrisburg, Pa., Kathy (Vic) Chester of Mt. Juliet and Jill (Don) Herring of Murfreesboro; seven grandchildren, Staci Gregory, Terry Hocker, Sonya Knight, Shannon and Dustin Chester, Gray Smith and Tanner Herring; seven great-grandchildren, Ethan and McKenna Gregory, Tyler, Zachary and Emma Hocker, and Summer and Hannah Knight.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of George Hocker to: Alive Hospice at Skyline Madison Campus at or Alive Hospice, Inc., 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203-9658.

Louise "Granny" Oliver

Services for Mrs. Oliver will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 25 at Sellars Funeral Home with Dr. George Robertson officiating. Interment will be in Jackson's Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 9 a.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Oliver, 94, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008. She was a member of Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church, a homemaker and a farmer.

She was preceded in death by parents, Wilson and Fanny Johnson Oliver; brother, Walter Oliver; sister, Flora Oliver Tomlinson; two baby sisters; and niece, Agnes Blanks. Survivors include: nieces and nephews, Joe and Herman Tomlinson, Ruby and Angie Sneed, Diane Roth, Carol, Michael and Timmy Thorn, Greg, Tommy and Timmy Tomlinson and Sandra Jo Morrison; best friend, Betty Tomlinson; and care takers, Sue and Joey Carmack.

Pallbearers will be Joey Carmack, Michael and Timmy Thorn, Steve and Ernie Sneed and Greg Tomlinson.
