Services for Mrs. Bates will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home in Lebanon with Bro. Michael Grooms and Bro. Barry Keene officiating. Interment will be in Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Saturday and noon until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bates, 92, of LaGuardo died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at Skyline Medical Center. A homemaker, she was a member of Highland Heights Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Peyton Bates; son, Howard Peyton Bates; brothers, Robert, Harris, Randall and Leslie Burton; sisters, Bernie Northern, Gracie George, Edna Smith, Matha Crittenden, Cora Lee Clemmons, Eleanor Gray and Gertrude Rawls; parents, Edmund and Emma Delle Peek Burton.
Survivors include: daughter, Mary Delle (Ron) Claiborne of Lebanon; grandson, Gary Claiborne of Weymouth, Mass.; granddaughter, Kelly Claiborne of Lebanon; great-granddaughter, Adelaide Claiborne of Weymouth, Mass.; brother, James (Pearl) Bates of Lebanon; and daughter-in-law, Gwen Bates of Lebanon.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Jackie Lee 'Jack' Bates
Services for Mr. Bates will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, at the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home in Cookeville with the Rev. Clarence Jared and the Rev. Bryant Presley officiating. Interment will be in the Browns Mill Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m., Saturday, and 11 a.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be 7 p.m. Saturday.
Mr. Bates, 69, of Cookeville, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009. Mr. Bates was a member of the Cookeville Baptist Temple and the Cookeville Masonic Lodge. He owned Mini Burger for 39 years. He was preceded in death by parents Wiley Bates and Tessie Martin; daughter, Tina Randolph; sister, Verla Lamberson; brothers, Earnest, Staley and Bernice Bates; and brother-in-law, Arnold Kinnaird.
Survivors include: wife, Rhonda Bates; sons, Tim Bates and Shane Bates; daughter, Stephanie (David) Davis; son-in law, Mark Randolph; mother- and father- in-law, Jim and Christine Hickey; brothers-in-law, Lonnie (Fay) Hickey, Troy (Tina) Hickey, Steve (Melody) Hickey, and Mike and Jeff Hickey; sisters-in-law, Rose (Steve) Ledbetter, Elaine (Mike) Allison, Missy (Mike) Maynard, and Eva Kinnaird; grandchildren include Tyler Randolph and Annalee Bates; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Roy Helms, Mark Randolph, Ronnie Jestes Jr., Steve Ledbetter, Greg Deweese, Lucas Ledbetter, Brian Walton and Shane Ward.
Services for Mrs. Bruce will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, in Hermitage Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bruce, 59, of Hermitage died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth West.
Survivors include: husband, Wayne Bruce; children, Jamy (Hernan) Borda and Ray Dunham; stepson, Jeremy (Sarah) Bruce; mother, Freida West; grandchildren, Sky and Lucio Borda; sisters, Roberta Kick and Mary Ann Howell; and brother, Kenneth West, Jr.

Mildred Garrard Hill Ezzell
Services for Mrs. Ezzell will be 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 16, in the Fredricks Funeral Home in Opelika, Ala. Interment will be in Memorial Park in Auburn, Ala. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ezzell, 88, of Hermitage and Auburn, Ala. died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Auburn, Ala. She was preceded in death by husbands, AJ Hill and Austin B. Ezzell; daughters, Kathy Hill and Susan Hill Prows; four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include: son, Stephen (Caroline) Hill of Tampa, Fla.; step-sons Ray (Linda) Ezzell of Lebanon, Dave (Pam) Ezzell of Nashville, and Russ (Sarah) Ezzell of Charleston, S.C.; numerous nieces and nephews; son-in-law, Leslie Prows of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Rebecca Terry of Athens, Ga.; grandchildren, Cameron, Charlotte, Jackson and Graham Hill, all of Tampa, Fla.; and eight step-grandchildren.

Floyd Edgar Petty Jr.
Services for Mr. Petty will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, in Hermitage Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Shannon officiating. Interment will be in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Petty, 74, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009. A member of the Mt. Juliet Church of Christ, he retired from the Tennessee Highway Department in 2000 after 43 years. He was preceded in death by parents, Floyd Edgar and Fannie Edith Petty; step-father, D.H. Mayberry; and step-brother, Jim Mayberry.
Survivors include: wife, Rachel Petty; children, Jeffrey Petty, Cynthia Petty of Nashville, Susan (Phillip) Long of Mt. Juliet; grandchildren, Hannah and Nathanael Long; brother, James (Diane) Petty of Manchester; and nephew, Jason (Hope) Petty of Manchester.

Mrs. Williams, 71, of Mt. Juliet, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009. A member of Andrew Price Memorial United Methodist Church, she was retired from Castner Knott. She was preceded in death by husband, Ralph Williams Sr.
Survivors include: sons, Ralph "Hank" (Lesa) Williams Jr., Mark (Robin) Williams, Paul (Lynn) Williams, Jeff (Michelle) Williams; daughter, Amy (Jerry Sr.) Hughes; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
