Era Earl Denton

Services for Mrs. Denton will be noon Saturday, Dec. 13 at Dickson Funeral Home with Bros. Clarence DeLoach and Wayne Pruett officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m.m Friday and 10 a.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Denton, 93, of Charlotte, Tenn., died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 at Horizon Medical Center. She was a secretary and salesperson for Denton's Furniture and Appliance from 1956-75.

She was preceded in death by husband, Albert Denton; parents, Earl and Ada Purnell Goodall; and sister, Martha Bobo.

Survivors include: son, Robert "Bobby" (Milbria Ann) Denton of Cumberland Furnace, Tenn.; daughter, Annette (James) Livingston of Blountville, Tenn.; brothers, Will Edward Goodall of Wingate, N.C., Walter Goodall of Lebanon and Jack Goodall of Castalian Springs; sisters, Dorothy Martin and Ann Paty, both of Lebanon; grandchildren, Al Denton, Lori Range, Cindy Fuller and Donald Petty; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Bertie Stevens Dickens

Services for Mrs. Dickens will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 at Partlow Funeral Chapel with Bro. Danny Sellars and the Rev. Robert Amason officiating. Interment will be in Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dickens, 94, of Lebanon, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 at Cedars Health Care Center. She was a homemaker, member of the Baptist church and former employee of Lebanon Garment Factory.

She was preceded in death by parents, Hill and Mary Tomlinson Stevens; husband, Jack "Red" Dickens; son, Tony Dickens; and sisters, Annie Holladay, Chloe Tomlinson and Bill Piercey.

Survivors include: grandson, Matthew Dickens; nieces and nephews, Billy Wayne Holladay, Sue Langevin, Steve Piercey and Sandra Walker.

Pallbearers will be Steve Piercey, Matthew Dickens, Billy Wayne Holladay, Charlie Rupp, Gill Langevin and Gregg Piercey.

Partlow Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Alice Floyd

Mrs. Floyd, 90, of Watertown, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008 at University Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete.

Hellum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Elvina Hutchison

Services for Mrs. Hutchison will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at Bond Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Judy Gray officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 13, from 4-8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 14, from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Hutchison, 85, of Mt. Juliet, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Wesley Hutchison; daughter, Patricia Hutchison Miller; parents, Daniel Grover and Idella Milligan Powell and brothers and sisters, Abe Powell, Mamey Powell, Grady Powell, Ester Martin, Alvin Powell, Charlie Powell, Katie Leaf and Lillie Mae Powell.

Survivors include: daughter, Brenda (Alan) Watts; son, Jerry (Denise) Hutison; sister, Louise Powell Nail; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; foour step-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronnie Keene, Scott Keene, Alan Watts, Jr., James Watts and Robbie Bennett.

Bond Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mark Johns

Memorial services for Mr. Johns will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 at Hermitage Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Mraz officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Johns, 45, of Mt. Juliet, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008.

He was preceded in death by parents, Dean and Doe Johns; and siblings, Jerry and Alene Johns.

Survivors include: son, Adam Johns; brothers, Doug, Sam, Johnny, Robert, Dan and Gerald Johns; sisters, Bell Johns, Frances Johnson, Debbie Clifton and Viola Goddard; best friend, Jo Allison; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Nelda Ruth Mabry

Services for Mrs. Mabry will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Dr. Craig Goff and Pastor Gloria Scott officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mabry, 80, of Mt. Juliet, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008. She was a member of Cooks United Methodist Church, the Mt. Juliet Senior Center and a retied cafeteria worker at Lakeview Elementary.

She was preceded in death by parents, N.M. and Annie Mirtle Miller Wooten and three brothers.

Survivors include: husband, Charles Mabry of Mt. Juliet; daughters, Connie (Bill) East of Gallatin, Bonnie (Bob) Johnson of Mt. Juliet and Debbie (Lennis) Rader of Mt. Juliet; son, Douglas (Sarah) Mabry of Marietta, Ga.; brothers, Harold (Catherine) Wooten of Hendersonville and Donald (Frances) Wooten of McAllister, Okla.; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the Nancy Everett Sunday School Class and members of the Mt. Juliet Senior Citizen's Center.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Alive Hospice or the American Heart Association.

Mary Nell Tarpley

Services for Mrs. Tarpley will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 at Hunter Funeral Home with the Rev. James G. Williams officiating. Interment will be in Jennings Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to service time Saturday.

Mrs. Tarpley, 80, of Watertown, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was retired from Avco and attended Smith Fork Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by husband, Ernest Clayton Tarpley; son, Ernest Leroy Tarpley; parents, Ernest and Montie Armstrong Hardin; brother, Ray Hardin; and sisters, Inez Hardin, Corrine McMillen and Iva Dell Radcliff.

Survivors include: son, Mitchell (Tammy) Tarpley of Smithville; and grandchildren, Wendy Odum of Lebanon, Mitch Tarpley of Statesville and Dusty Tarpley of Lebanon.

Howard Edward Van Hook

Graveside services with full military honors for Mr. Van Hook will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12 at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery with James Harris officiating.

Mr. Van Hook, 77, of Mt. Juliet, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008. He was a member of Riverwood Church of Christ and a graduate of Isaac Litton High School. He retired from the Tennessee Army National Guard with 42 years of service. He was a 37 year employee of Army Aviation Maintenance as a helicopter/fixed wing mechanic.

He was preceded in death by parents, Lloyd Franklin and Maxie McCarty Van Hook.

Survivors include: wife, Helen Van Hook; daughter, Karen Van Hook; brother, Alvin (Jean) Van Hook; grandchildren, Vada (Jeff) Brown and Paula Wilson; and great-grandchild, Kristiana Brown.

Honorary pallbearers will be current and retired Army Aviation Maintenance Shop employees.
