Leda Evans Hughes
Services for Mrs. Hughes will be noon Tuesday, Dec. 23 at Immanuel Baptist Church with Pastor John Hunn officiating. Interment will be in Overton County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the service Tuesday at the church.
Mrs. Hughes, 86, of Lebanon, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2008 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was a graduate of Livingston Academy and attended Tennessee Tech. She taught in Overton County, worked for Selective Service and the US Postal Service. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, the Golden Gems, Academy Place Book Club and a 50 year plus member of Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by parents, Albert and Sadie Beaty Evans; husband, Brown Hughes Jr.; brother, Houston Evans; and sister, Pat Easterday.
Survivors include: daughters, Jane (Bobby) Bilbrey of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga. and Margaret (Bill) Head of Lebanon; grandchildren, Frank Bilbrey of Chattanooga, Andy (Leigh) Head of Lebanon and Emily Jane (Jeremy) Donegan of Mt. Juliet; great-grandchildren, McCall Olivia and Neyland Evans Head; sister, Lucille Griffin of Albany, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jim and Bert Evans, Chuck Nicholson, Gary Norris, Randall Clemons and Dwight Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be Esther Sunday School Class at Immanuel Baptist Church, Michael Clemons, James Kuykendall, Dr. Ross Averitt, Ray Upchurch, Keith Bilbrey, Gary Maggart, Wayne Evans and Joe Lee.
Memorials may be made to the Gideons or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Jerry Lee Scruggs Sr.
Services for Mr. Scruggs will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23 at Wilson County Funeral Home. Interment will be in Wilson County Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Scruggs, 42, of Lebanon, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008.
Survivors include: wife, Elizabeth Scruggs; son, Jerry Scruggs Jr.; daughter, Gina Maeann Scruggs; parents, Richard Louis and Judy Ann Scruggs; sisters, Melissa (Mark) Cox, May (Tim) Thrasher and Patricia (Billy) Whiteman; and brothers, Rick (Tina) Scruggs and Curtis (Vicky) Scruggs.
Pallbearers will be Bubba and Fred Cowley, Jimmy Dean, Shawn Busy, Chris Lackey, Mark Cox, Tim Thrasher and Wayne Johnson.
