Visitation and funeral services will be held from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10 at Sellers Funeral Home with private graveside service at Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma.
Mr. Burch, 90, of Lebanon, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008 at his residence. He was raised in Bruceton, Tenn. and attended Castle Heights Military Academy; he later attended Middle Tenn State University where he was two sport letterman in football and basketball.
Mr Burch joined the Navy at the start of World War II and became a Navy fighter pilot and was awarded the Navyâ€™s Distinguished Flying Cross. He retired from the Navy as Commander following 30 years of service, where he commanded a flight squadron out of Birmingham.
He received his Masters Degree from George Peabody College in Nashville and did extensive work on his Ph.D at Indiana University. He was Director of Development at Cumberland University before he began work for Cracker Barrel Restaurant Corp. and worked there until he retired in 1996. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lebanon and was a volunteer and usher at the church.
He was preceded in death by parents, William Johnson and Edna Pendley Burch.
Survivors include: wife of 66 years, Helen Boyd Burch of Lebanon; sons, Richard Burch of Hendersonville, William F. (Jerry) Burch of Birmingham, Ala. and James (Therese) Burch of Leesburg, Va.; grandchildren Charles (Jennifer) Burch of Atlanta, Ga, William (Jody) Burch of Richmond, Va, Ryan Burch of Birmingham, Ala., Jessica Burch of Leesburg and Leigh Burch of Purceville, Va.; and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church in Lebanon.
Armstead Willis "Humpie" Hughes
Services for Mr. Hughes were Saturday, Dec. 6 at Partlow Funeral Chapel with Bros. Bobby Hale and Dusty Bradly officiating. Interment was in Wilson County Memorial Park.
Mr. Hughes, 76, of McMinnville, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008 at his residence. He was a retired employee of Textron Industries, a Missionary Baptist Minister and member of Rocky Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by parents, Marshall Lee and Anna Mae Hughes; first wife, Callie Lee Hughes; sisters, Nellie Bumpus, Cathleen Hayes, Pearl Hughes, Belle Wilson and Deely Gilley; and brothers, James and Tommy Hughes.
Survivors include: wife, Maggie Hughes of McMinnville; sons, Ralph (Angela) Hughes of Pownal, Vt., Billy Lynn "Country" (Cheryl) Hughes of Abilene, Texas and Mickey (Lisa) Hughes of Lebanon; daughter, Anna Darlene Cahill of Carthage; step-son, Ralph Edward (Edna) Crim of McMinnville; step-daughters, Annette (Paul) Watson and Brenda (Phillip) West, both of McMinnville; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Nina Lurene Williams
Services for Mrs. Williams will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10 at Sellars Funeral Home with Bro. Stan Edwards officiating. Interment will be in Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and noon until the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Williams, 81, of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008.
She was preceded in death by parents Hilton and Edith Weatherly Williams; and brothers, Robert S., Oscar and James M. Williams.
Survivors include: children, George (Pam) Williams of Lascassas, Phillip (Debra) Williams of Lebanon and Rejeanna (Gary) Buchanan of Germantown; sister, Dorothy Singleton of Lascassas; grandchildren, Aaron, Anna, Evan and Lisa Williams, Natalie Montgomery, Mark and Buchanan and Jennifer Hamlin; and two great-grandchildren, Austin and Jesse Montgomery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff at Odyssey Hospice.
