John Thomas "Tom" Gammon

Services for Mr. Gammon will be noon Thursday, Feb. 28 at Hermitage Funeral Home. Interment will be in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Gammon, 80, of Mt. Juliet, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008.

He was preceded in death by first wife, Bobbie Sue Gammon. Survivors include: wife, Mary Sloan Gammon; daughter, Brenda Harvey; step-children, Wanda Robinson and Ronnie, George, John, Roger and Robin Sloan; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Suite 216, 4205 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, 37215.

Donald Ray Gibbs Sr.

Services for Mr. Gibbs will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Gibbs, 57, of Mt. Juliet, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008.

Survivors include: wife, Sherry Gibbs; son, Ray Gibbs; sister, Doris (Sidney) Richardson; and brothers, Larry and Bob Smartt.

Matrin Johnson

Services for Mr. Johnson will be 1 p.m. Sunday, March 2 at Hellum Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Marable officiating. Interment will be in Rest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until the service Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson, 25, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008 at MTMC.

Survivors include: wife, Latrice Johnson of Murfreesboro; mother, Falesia (Gary) Butler of Antioch; father, Lance (Angela) Roberts of Nashville; brothers, Savales and Travis Johnson; sisters, Okimo and Shawana Johnson and Teon Cragwall; stepbrother and stepsister, Anthony and Angel Davis; grandparents, Mary (Markel) Davis of Bowling Green, Ky., Don Roberts of Nashville and Maudie Blair of Murfreesboro; and other relatives and friends.

Mary Claudine Key

Services for Mrs. Key will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 29 at Sellars Funeral Home with Bros. Bufford Bane and Alvin Hitchcock officiating. Interment will be in Caraway Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Key, 75, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008.

She was preceded in death by husband, William Gilbert Key; parents, Winfield and Willie May Morse Thomas; and brothers, Benny "Razor," Eugene and Joe Lee Thomas. Survivors include: daughters, Roberta (Donald) and Patricia Copas and Betty (Stan Adams) Key; sister, Elizabeth Hallums; grandsons, Chris, Terry and Jason Copas and Brian Masamer; and great-granddaughter, Brooke Lyne Masamer.

Pallbearers will be Chris, Donald, Terry and Jason Copas and Greg and Rick Hallums.

Jonathan Nelson Messick

Services for Mr. Messick will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 29 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Pastor Gil Floyd officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Messick, 24, of Midland Community died Feb. 26, 2008. He was a native of Cannon Co. and had worked for season tree service.

He was preceded in death by grandfather, Eldie Davis. Survivors include: wife, Stephanie Messick; children, Dylan and Katie; grandparents, Leon and Mary Messick and Mary Christine Davis; mother, Robin Watkins; father, David and step-mother, Patti Messick; brother, Joshua (Nicole) Messick, sister, Heather (Scott) Testerman, Elisha (Dante) Feggins, Amber and Ashley Messick, Shanta (Lonnie) Watkins, Calli Watkins; step-brother, Dustin Watkins, and Abrahm Mabry; step-sister, Stacey Layne; former step-father, Leory Watkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Ben Hooper Paty

Services for Mr. Paty will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 at Calvary United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Spring Hill Mausoleum. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday and 1 p.m. until the service Thursday.

Mr. Paty, 97, of Lebanon, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008. He was the fifth of six children of Ura Lee Shannon Paty and Robert Whitley Paty. He graduated from Castle Heights Military Academy with honors as head cadet. He was the oldest living alumnus of the academy. He attended Vanderbilt University and was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He was a Certified Public Accountant, with the accounting firm Osborn & Page, until starting his own firm in 1951, later partnering with Price Womack and J.P. Foster. The firm merged with Touche Ross Bailey & Smart (Deloitte), where he served as the partner in charge of the Nashville office until his retirement.

He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Green Hills Sertoma Club, Richland Country Club, and Al Menah Shrine Temple. He volunteered at the local Boys Club, the Trees of Christmas at Cheekwood, and The Shopping Bag Thrift Store. An avid Wilson County historian, Paty loved his Lebanon heritage. He happily assumed the role of patriarch of the annual Paty family reunion.

He was preceded in death by wife of 66 years, Nina Shaw and his daughter, Cheryl. Survivors include: children, Margo Paty Pickering of Charlotte, Tenn., Shannon Paty and Ben (Melissa) Paty, Jr.; grandchildren, Will (Marci) Beard, Shannon Pickering, Leigh Pickering (Jody) Ware of Charlotte, Katy Moran, Hooper Paty III; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donations may be made to Vanderbilt University, St. Andrews-Sewanee School or the American Red Cross.

Marshall Donnelly Combs is in charge of arrangements.

Ahmad Smith

Services for Mr. Smith will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 1 at Hellum Funeral Home. Interment will be in Smith Cemetery in Watertown. Visitation will be noon until the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith, 26, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008 at MTMC.

Survivors include: parents, Ernest and Wanda Smith of Watertown; daughter, Michia Wade of Murfreesboro; grandmother, Queen E. Steverson of Lebanon; sisters, Cozette (Dwayne) Crosby of Murfreesboro and Tarkeshia Smith of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Yamego (Pamela) Smith of Memphis; and other relatives and friends.
