Mary Evelyn Greer Oliver
Services for Mrs. Oliver will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 4 at the New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lisa Diane Oliver, Rev. Don Reeves and Rev. Vernon Burrow officiating. Interment will be in Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home and noon until the service Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Oliver, 88, of Lebanon, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Hendersonville Medical Center. Born in Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Lee and Bessie Mai Wallace Greer. She was a 63 year member of New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She worked in restaurants and cooked for the Kiwanis, Rotary and Lions Clubs for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Bee Oliver; son, Henry Elwood Oliver; brothers, Ernest Winter Greer and Charles Edward Greer; nephew, Eddie Greer; and a life long friend, Opal Smith.
Survivors include: sons, Alvin R. (Eleanor) Oliver of Hendersonville and Charles Reed Oliver of Lebanon; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and friends, John Turner, Vondie Smith, Johnny Fisher, Eddie and Brenda Callis, New Hope Church Family, Dr. Robert Woods, Dr. Brain Hughey, Dr. Donald Cole and Dr. James Morris.
Pallbearers will be Rhea, Bill, Danny, Tommy and Thomas Martin Oliver and Ronnie Greer. Honorary pallbearers will be Elders of New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Friendly Sunday School Class.
Ethalyn Burford Seay
Services for Mrs. Seay will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 4 at St. Stephens Baptist Church in Pontiac, Mich.
Mrs. Seay, of Pontiac, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in Pontiac.
Survivors include: children, Jean, Sandy, Wayne, Ricky and Jerry, all of Pontiac; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Seay of Lebanon and Ruby Seay of Pontiac; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
