Virgie Lee Colwell
Services for Mrs. Colwell were Monday, Dec. 14 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Jack Tidrick and Walter Droke officiating. Interment was in Cannady Cemetery.
Mrs. Colwell, 91, of Lawrenceburg, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009 at Maury Regional Hospital. She was a member of the Sanctuary United Pentecostal Church in Hohenwald and was retired from Valdour Shirt Factory.
She was preceded in death by husband, George Baxter Colwell; grandchildren, Lonnie Earl Colwell Jr. and Tori Danielle Stacy; parents, Luther Martin and Elizabeth Taylor Gay; brothers, Homer and Gentry Gay; and sisters, Pauline Murphy, Dorothy Gay, Bertha Clause and Annie Sparkman.
Survivors include: children, Lonnie (Joyce) Colwell of Lebanon, Genava (Jack) Tidrick of Murfreesboro, Maxie (Leona) Colwell of Liberty and Fay (Tip) Melton of Lawrenceburg; grandchildren, Christie Tindle, Wendy Casselberry, Tonya Williams, Shawn Colwell, Tammye Grantham and Blake Melton; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Cloie Caldwell of Smithville and Ruby West of McMinnville; and brothers, J.E. Gay of McMinnville and James Gay of Lewisburg.
Ray Gordon Ligon
Services for Mr. Ligon will be noon Wednesday, Dec. 16 at Spring Hill Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Crumby officiating. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service.
Mr. Ligon, 90, of Donelson, passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009. He was retired from Genesco with 38 years of service and was also employed with Opryland Hotel for 18 years. He attended Donelson Church of Christ. He was a proud member of the US Army and served our country during WWII.
Survivors include: wife of 59 years, Mildred Gleaves Ligon; daughters, Patricia Ligon and Carol (Byron) Bohrman; sister, Helen (Roger) Deloach; granddaughters, Allison and Melissa Bohrman.

David Wayne Meeks
Memorial services for Mr. Meeks will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Phil DePriest officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
Mr. Meeks, 46, of Lebanon, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009. He was a native of Wilson County. He attended Pentecostals of Murfreesboro and was a well known professional trim carpenter, owner and operator of D.M. Trim.
Survivors include: wife of 18 years, Danita Reynolds Meeks; son, Timothy Daniel (Laura) Meeks of Murfreesboro; daughter, Roxanne Dawn Rochelle of Centerville; grandchildren, Bailey Blaine and Kennedy Michelle Meeks; mother, Pat Lenning (Bill) Bingham of Bell Buckle; sister, DeAnn Meeks of Bell Buckle; father, Dewey Corley Jr. of Alabama.
Ila Mae Howell Lothridge Slate
Services for Ms. Slate will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday Dec. 16 at Partlow Funeral Chapel with Dr. Larry Locke officiating. Interment will be in Barren River Baptist Church Cemetery in Bowling Green, Ky. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ms. Slate, 85, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009 at Cedars Health Care Center. She was owner of Southland Restaurant and Old Hickory Restaurant, a waitress at Cherokee Steak House and a member of Barren River Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by parents, Chester and Nannie Mae Hudson Howell; son, Michael Douglas Slate; brother, James H. Howell; uncle and aunt, Gilbert and Mattie Kinser.
Survivors include: son, Tommy (Pam) Lothridge; grandchildren, Lorie (Paul) Freitas of Florida and William (Michelle) Davis of Alabama; great-grandchildren, Rowan Freitas, Savannah and Sawyer Davis; and numerous cousins.

Eld. White, of Lebanon, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
