Memorial service for Mr. Allen will be 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Lebanon Senior Citizen's Center.
Mr. Allen, 89, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010. He was born and raised in Cheatham County. He joined the Navy at the outbreak of World War II and fought in the battle of Okinawa. He entered the oil distributor business in Ashland City with his father-in-law and he and wife Mary bought their own oil distributor business in 1956. He was a founding member of Christ United Methodist Church in McMinnville. He was active in the Lebanon Senior Citizen's Center.
He was preceded in death by parents, Annie Mai and Charlie Allen; brother, Murray Allen; first wife, Mary Ward Allen; and step-children, Helen Lawson, Regina Keefer and Coy Sams.
Survivors include: wife, Joyce Sams Allen; children, Catherine (Kirby Pate) Link of Nashville, Charlie (Mary) Allen of Middlesboro, Ky., Ward (Navi) Allen and Clare (David) Wiedlocher , both of Lebanon; step-children, Linda (Roger) Steele of Hermitage, Patricia (David) Crock of Bon Aqua and Roy Sams of Lebanon; grandchildren, Elissa Link and Mark Brown, Bryan and Leanne Link, Lake Allen and Robert Birkholz, Bo and Amy Link, Ward and Brooke Allen, Hunter and Kelly Ann Allen, Jennifer and Matt Erickson, Walker Allen and Linda Sok; 19 step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Davis, Emma and Jackson Link, Lathon Allen and Alyssa Link; 22 step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lebanon Senior Citizen's Center.
Wilma Dean Harris
Services for Mrs. Harris will be 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15 at Alexander Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Turner, Rev. Gordon Lee and Rev. George Wallace officiating. Interment will be in Sumner Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 5-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Harris, 72, of Gallatin, passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010.
She was preceded in death by parents, William Alton and Mildred Anne Gibson Pickle.
Survivors include: husband, Douglas Harris of Gallatin; sons; Dewayne (Mara) Harris of Gallatin and Shane (Jamie) Harris of Lebanon; brother, Douglas (Margaret) Pickle of Columbia; sister, Jean Tapscott of Gallatin; and grandson, Mason Harris of Portland.
Pallbearers will be Gary Pickle, Mike Vaughn, Kevin Pickle, Dan Doty, Ron Franklin and Dave Brown.
