Rita M. Durffee Benham

Arrangements for Mrs. Benham are being handled by Dewhirst Andover Funeral Home in Andover, Mass. A memorial service will take place at a later date.

Mrs. Benham, 89, of Winchester, Mass., and Wolfeboro, N.H., passed away December 28, 2007, at the Wingate in Haverhill. She was born in Monson, Mass., and raised and educated in Reading, Mass. She worked for the Winchester School System for several years, and then for Raytheon. She also did some volunteer work for Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, N.H., in her later years. She enjoyed traveling and playing Bridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter M. Benham. She is survived by three children, Walter M. (Joyce) Benham, Jr., of Andover, Mass.; Marsha E. (Ed) Fisher, of Dade City, Fla.; and Barbara A. (John) Hubeey, of Lebanon, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Chris Varney, of Stoneham, Mass.; Mark Varney, of Yardley, Pa.; and Alissa and Emily Benham, both of Andover, Mass.; four great-grandchildren, Jessica, Tanner, Dylan and Riley Varney.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer
