James H. â€œJimâ€ Atkinson
Services for Mr. Atkinson will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 29 at Victory Baptist Church with Bros. Chuck Groover and W.D. Thomason officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2-6 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet.
Mr. Atkinson, 72, of Mt. Juliet, died Thursday, July 26, 2007. He was a member of Victory Baptist, the Mt. Juliet Jaycees and the Tennessee Walking Horse Association.
He was preceded in death by parents, James and Nanny Atkinson; and brother, Robert M. Atkinson. Survivors include: wife of 44 years, Colleen Atkinson; son, James Charles â€œJ.C.â€ Atkinson; brother, Gerald (Nellie) Atkinson; sisters, Nancy (Boyd) Ruff and Marietta (Frank) Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tony Pryor, Toby Toombs, Wayne Griffin, Frank and Wesley Smith and Rick Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Oakley Sunday school class, Dr. Robert Gaston Sr., Dr. Robert Gaston Jr. and Dr. Clark Ray.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Victory Baptist Church Building Fund, 1777 Tates Lane, Mt. Juliet.
Mary L. Ross
Services for Mrs. Ross will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 30 at Bond Memorial Chapel. Interment with military honors will be 1 p.m. at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ross, 81, died Friday, July 27, 2007. She was a Navy veteran and served in World War II.
She was preceded in death by parents, Eby Frank and Clara Amelia Sieward Underly; husband, Richard Elson Ross; and a sister. Survivors include: sons, Dennis, Dale, Richard Jr., David and Ronald Ross; daughters, Barbara Frederick and Kathy Brown; brothers, Robert and Harry Underly; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
