Services for Mr. Hooper will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24 at Wilson County Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Pugh officiating. Interment will be in Wilson County Memorial Park. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hooper, 66, of the Rome community, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007. He was a lifelong semi-truck driver and co-owner of Hooperâ€™s Trucking LLC and a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by parents, Troy and Onie Hooper; brothers, Eugene and Kenneth Hooper; and father- and mother-in-law, W.J. and Claudia Rutledge. Survivors include: wife of 44 years, Phyllis A. Hooper; daughter, Phyllis A. Hooper; son, Charles (Frieda) Hooper; granddaughters, Casey Rhea and Caitlin Mae Hooper, all of Rome; sister, Ellawease King of McEwen; sister-in-law, Thelma Hooper of Dickson; Ethel (Paul) Powell of Dunlap; Louise Rutledge of Hartsville; brother-in-law, Bill (Evelyn) Rutledge of Gallatin; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Judeâ€™s Childrenâ€™s Hospital or Gideons.
Florence Overstreet Tomlinson
Graveside services for Mrs. Tomlinson will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct 23 at Cedar Grove Cemetery with Bro. Ronnie Armistead officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the service at Partlow Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Tomlinson, 88, of Lebanon, died Monday, Oct. 22 at University Medical Center. She was a seamstress with Lebanon Garment Factory and a farmer.
She was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Sally Overstreet; husband, Lawrence Tomlinson; five sisters; and a brother. Survivors include: nephew, Ed (Lois) Overstreet of Lebanon; great-nephew, Ronnie (Barbara) Armistead of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
