Lyndall “Lyn” Wilhelmenia McMillian

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Rev. Thad Austin will officiate. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville, Tenn. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service time, Monday, at Woodfins.

Mrs. McMillian, 101, of Murfreesboro, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013. Mrs. McMillian was a native of Brooklyn, N.Y. and daughter of the late M.F. and Louisa Gritman Becker. Mrs. McMillian was a member of First United Methodist Church and a retired educator. She was a graduate of Maryville College, George Peabody College and had graduate work at UT Knoxville.

She had taught at North Carolina, George Town College Ky., Belmont College, Lebanon High School and MTSU. She was recognized nationally for membership in American Home Economics for over 50 years. She was a member of Omega Phi Sigma Sorority, the Woman’s Club, AARP, MTSU, Dames Club, AAUW, and an FHA advisor. She was a member of NEA, TEA, RCRTA, and American Association Family and Consumers Licenses

She was preceded in death by her husband Miles McMillian, who died in 1997. She is survived by nieces and nephews.
