Charles Spurgeon Thompson

Funeral services for Mr. Thompson are Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 2 p.m. from the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Wofford officiating. Interment will be in Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time.

Mr. Thompson, 90, of Gladeville passed away Aug. 4, 2013, at Quality Care Nursing Home. He was a 1942 graduate of Lebanon High School and was awarded the American Farmer Degree. He retired from AVCO and was a farmer. He was a member of the Joppa Lodge No. 411 F&AM and the former Jacob’s Hill Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, C.H. Spurgeon Thompson and Sophronia Jane Alsup Thompson; two sisters, Lucy Logue Partlow and Mary Howard Hagan.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Virginia Lawrence Thompson; three sons,  Charles Stephen (Mary Gwyn) Thompson, Walter Wayne (Linda) Thompson, Russell Wray (Peggy-Jo) Thompson; seven grandchildren, Amy Kathleen (Charles) Morris, Cheryl Leanne Thompson, Christy Lynn (Jack) Cook, Brian Patrick (Mary) Thompson, Rachel Sarah (Austin) Blanchard, Jo-Ellen Thompson, B. Jacob Thompson; and three great-grandchildren, Charles Morgan Morris, Brilee and Jase Thompson.
