Services for Mrs. Page were conducted from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. with Eld. Charles Allen Gentry and Eld. Anthony Dixon officiating. Burial followed in the Smith County Memorial Gardens. Visitation at the Carthage Chapel was on Saturday from 2-8 p.m. and on Sunday after 10 a.m.
Mrs. Page, 79, a resident of Trousdale Assisted Living and formerly of Tanglewood, died at 10:15 p.m. Thursday evening, Aug. 8, 2013 at the Sumner Regional Hospice.
Born Laura Katherine Scruggs in the Lick Creek community of Trousdale County on Aug. 24, 1933, she was one of seven children of the late James Thomas and Lillie Ann Gregory Scruggs. Siblings preceding her in death were Janie Beasley, Hester Merryman, Clyde “Buck” Scruggs, Charles Scruggs and Ed Scruggs.
On April 30, 1955 in the Cato community she was joined in marriage to George Walter Page by Eld. Ted Smith. Mr. Page preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 2004 at the age of 71.
Mrs. Page was a homemaker. She was a member of the Knob Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Brenda Cothron and husband Paul of Brush Creek, Pam Kemp and husband Phil of South Carthage, Connie Martin and husband Terry of Hiwassee, Lori Warren and husband Darrin of Lebanon; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials to the Knob Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
