Funeral services for Mrs. Corley will be Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Rigsby officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service time.
Mrs. Corley, age 85, of the Statesville community, died Sunday evening, Feb. 9, 2014 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. Born in Statesville, she was the daughter of the late Edd Lester Bullard and Mary Driver Bullard. A graduate of Watertown High School, she was retired from the Tennessee Agricultural Statistics Service with the USDA. She was a member of Prosperity Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Sue spent several years researching the history of the Statesville community, and in 1987 she published “Statesville – A Visual Image of Our Heritage,” and in 1993 she published “Volume II.”
Sue is survived by her husband, Dewey Corley; daughter, Joanne Shipper; her husband, James Lowe; and son, Dale Corley all of Statesville; grandchildren, Amanda Beth Corley, of Nashville, Nathan and Clint Shipper, both of Statesville, Lori (Tim) Chaffin, of Lebanon; great grandchildren, Erika and Lexy Chaffin.
Pallbearers will be Albert Midgett, Duke Aylor, Pat Hall, Robert Eades, Tim Chaffin and Ricky Barrett.
The family wishes to thank their friends, church members and caregivers for their prayers, love and support during Sue's illness.
