James Melvin Lea

Funeral services for Mr. Lea will be Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Trice officiating. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until the service time. Interment will be at Wilson County Memorial Park in Lebanon.

Mr. Lea, age 81, of Watertown, died Thursday evening, Feb. 27, 2014 at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage.

Born in Wilson County, he was the son of the late Jessie Herbert and Elizabeth Frances Williams Lea. Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Sue Moser Lea; brothers, Riley and William Thomas Lea; sisters, Ella Knowles, Ola Mai Hackney; and an infant sister, Agnes Marie Lea. He was a retired employee of South Central Bell, and along with his wife, Sue, operated Moser's Cherry Valley Market for many years.

Melvin is survived by his sons, James Lea and his wife, Sharon, of Dickson, Tony Lea, of Watertown, Mitchell Lea and his wife, Teresa, of Watertown; daughter, Debbie Lea Hunt and husband, David, of Norene; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Keith, of Brentwood, Mary Baines, of Lebanon; brother, Raymond Lea and his wife, Robbie, of Lebanon; nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Watertown Volunteer Fire Department.
