A celebration of life and love for Mrs. Bond will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 and Sunday, March 16, 2014. Saturday's services, March 15, 2014, will be held at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church at 612 Washington Place in East St. Louis, Ill. The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m., with the funeral to follow. The Rev. Cornell Brown will serve as eulogist. Sunday's service, March 16, 2014, will be held at Oakview Missionary Baptist Church at 1201 Winfield Lane in Brownsville. The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m., with the funeral to follow. The Rev. David Ricks will be presiding.
Mrs. Bond passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Memorial Hospital of Belleville, Ill. She was 94 years old.
Those who will miss her most are her five devoted children, Versie Gayden, of Chicago, Ollie Beverly, of East St. Louis, Ill., Thomas (Arnie) Bond, of St. Louis, Mo., Elois (Connell) Outlaw, of Hendersonville, and Lonnell (Debra) Bond Sr., of St. Louis; one devoted sister, Jo Anna Hellum, of Lebanon; two devoted brothers, Arthur Young, of Decatur, Ill., Fred (Dorothy) Young, of Milwaukee, Wis.; two devoted sisters-in-law, Ruby D. Young, of Decatur, Ill., Lee Oper Young, of Brownsville; 27 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren; a host of cousins; nieces; nephews; relatives; and friends.
One daughter, Lue Vern Johnson; one sister, Lue Bertha Hawkins; three brothers, Mack Young, Charlie Young and Frank Young, preceded her in death.
