Funeral services for Mr. Thomas will be Friday, June 27, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home with the Rev. Charlie Pollard officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. until the service time. Interment with military honors will follow at Greenvale Cemetery. 

Mr. Thomas, age 87, of the Greenvale community, died Tuesday afternoon, June 24, 2014 at University Medical Center in Lebanon.

He was the son of the late Edgar Freece Thomas and Effie Mable Hollingsworth Thomas and was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Patterson.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, stationed in France with Co. B, 472nd EAB, 20th Engineer Brigade. Clyde was employed at the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro for nearly 60 years. He was a farmer and served on the Wilson County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and was a member of Greenvale Baptist Church.

Clyde is survived by his wife of 59 years, Pauline Lanier Thomas; children, Ray Thomas and wife, Crystal, of Mt. Juliet, Joan Dotson and husband, Art, of Lebanon, Allen Thomas and wife, Kandi, of Murfreesboro; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one niece and three nephews.

Pallbearers will be Adam Thomas, Mitch Height, Chase Prince, Lynn Pulley, Lewis, Lane and Lawrence Patterson.

I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Mr. Thomas for a number of years. I have been retired for a couple of years so, I was not aware that he had passed until yesterday. He was a fine gentleman and will be missed by a great many people, especially the many veteran's that he assisted at the VA hospital.
