Visitation for Mrs. Johnson will be Wednesday, July 9 from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday, July 10 from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m. in the Partlow Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Johnson, age 71, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014.
She was born Dec. 19, 1942 to the late Earl and Marjorie Underwood Wright, of Gladeville. Johnnie graduated from Mt. Juliet High School. She was married to the father of her children, Noel Gray Yelton, in 1968 until his death in 1983. She then married Charles Cowan Johnson, of Lebanon, in 1988. Johnnie was passionate about the fine arts. Her fingers would dance across the keys with ease. She played music all over the county at weddings, funerals, horse shows, fashion shows and parties for entertainment, as well as playing dinner music at The Plaza Restaurant in Lebanon. She was amazing at playing on request. She enjoyed teaching piano and performing at recitals. Johnnie served God and her church, playing the piano and organ for most of her life, serving Fellowship Baptist Church, Gladeville Baptist Church and Cloyd's Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was involved in several social organizations, such as Cloyd's Cumberland Presbyterian Women, The Love Notes Choral Group and The Eastern Star Chapter No. 95, Amaranth and the White Shrine.
Johnnie is survived by her husband of 26 years, Charles Johnson; children, Allen Gray Yelton and his wife, Holly, Angela Yelton Elder and her husband, Brian, Jim Johnson and his wife, Kimberly, Eric Johnson and his wife, Lori, Connie Hollis and her husband, Jimmy; grandchildren, Gus Yelton, Katy Mae Elder, Noel Elder, Parker Johnson, Eli Johnson, Jenny Hearne, Rachel Steele, Matt Steele, Nigel Dedmon, Tanner Dedmon, William Dedmon; brother, Wayne Wright and his wife, Helen.
Pallbearers will be Marty Heckman, Jonathan Gray, Mark Gray, Chad Horner, Dean McKaskle, Dwayne Wright, Spanky Spangler and Bobby Griffin.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Gentiva Hospice and Elmcroft Assisted Living Facility for their support in her final days.
