O'Connell seventh in OVC tournament

LEDBETTER, Ky. — Former Wilson Central two-sport standout Kellie O'Connell finished in a tie for seventh place in the Ohio Valley Conference Women's Golf Championships on Wednesday at Drake Creek Golf Club.
The Samford sophomore fired an 83 Wednesday for a three-day total of 240. Her teammate, freshman Katelyn Stanier, won the tournament with a 7-over 223.
Jacksonville State won the team tournament while Samford finished third.
O'Connell was tied for second following Monday's play with a 78 and slipped to third Tuesday with a 79.
