Early voter turnout should inspire all

At the end of the day Wednesday, more than 2,000 happy voters let their voices be heard in Wilson County in the general election, but none could be happier than Administrator of Elections Phillip Warren.
For months, Warren has worked hard to spread the word locally about taking advantage of early voting and how much easier it is rather than waiting until Election Day. It appears the work paid off Wednesday when 2,185 of the more than 76,000 registered voters in Wilson County turned out to vote on the first day of early voting.
Combined with absentee returns, nearly 3,000 voters had already exercised their civic duty at the end of the day Wednesday.
Warren should be commended for his efforts to get the word out, and we agree the process is much easier than crowding Wilson County’s 33 polling places all on one day. It’s your right; go ahead and exercise it early.
