We are rapidly approaching move No. 2 this weekend. After selling our house last month, we packed up everything and moved to my grandparents house while we waited to close on our new home.
And now, the closing has been completed and I am making plans this weekend to prepare myself for a thorough cleaning before we begin emptying two jam-packed storage pods. My husband and, to an extent, myself spent the majority of the past weekend trying to put in posts for a new fence on the property. Our two dogs who will be making the move need a place to run and play and the current owners had no fence, so we are putting up some chain link.
Our storage units will be arriving on Saturday, and I couldn’t even tell you how many boxes we crammed in them. I can even picture myself having a toss out pile as I unload, seeing as I didn’t get to go through everything before we packed. It’ll probably be one of those instances where I have a “keep it” pile on one side of the room with a “donate it” or “trash it” pile on the other.
I think the hardest part, besides unloading, will be deciding where the heck everything should go.
I am not a visual person. I can’t just look at a space and see exactly how I want things. This will probably drive my husband nuts, because it might mean moving couches or tables more than once. I’m going to try to avoid that, but we’ll have to see where it goes.
I’ve basically resigned myself to the fact that I will be completely exhausted by Saturday night, even though I know I still have all of Sunday to go too. I’ve even warned my coworkers to ignore the fact that I may fall asleep at my desk. I figure they can toss something soft at me and wake me up.
I do have the prospect of some great free food to look forward to on Monday. I’ll be making my annual visit to the Chamber Open House that day to sample food from the 30 restaurants attending this year.
I’m steeling myself for a rough weekend, but a rewarding one. I’ll save all the other projects for later this year, because Mother Nature isn’t being very cooperative anyway.
