Well, it appears that Mother Nature has decided, at least for a couple days, that it can finally be spring. I am very happy about this. It is a little weird to be wearing capris the first week of April, but I'm not going to complain.
We are approaching my favorite time of year. The time when the trees are all green and begin to sprout their flowers, all the spring flowers start showing their colors, and the grass is not an ugly brown.
Plus, with the new house, I can pick out the flowers I want to put on the front porch and decide whether to start fresh in the raised beds of the previous owners.
I've heard that the beds are very pretty in the spring, so I guess I'll find out. If they turn out to be things I'm not fond of then my mother will be getting a phone call. I'm sure she's already expecting one. She knows the luck I have with plants. I'm not ashamed to admit I have killed two of the plants that are supposed to be nearly impossible to kill.
If you haven't guessed what plants I'm referring to they are, respectively, a cactus and some "lucky" bamboo that I bought many years ago. It's pretty bad when you follow the instructions that come with the plants and they still die.
Oh well, we'll just start fresh and hope for the best.
Aside from the prospect of having a nice landscaping job, I'm thoroughly enjoying this 70-degree weather. Any temperature from the upper 60s to the mid 80s suits me just fine. Warm enough to wear comfortable clothes and sandals, but not so warm that you sweat just by stepping outside.
It appears that the National Weather Service is going to be making this girl happy the next few days. Highs are looking to be in the 60s through next Tuesday. But it does look like I'll need to hold off washing the car. Pretty good chances of rain.
Again though, we are looking at the types of temperatures that make me smile, even if it will be a bit damp. That just means better chances for my plants to grow.
