We’ve enlisted the help of Dr. Ellen Slicker for this discussion, professor of Professional Counseling at Middle Tennessee State University and private-practice psychologist. She has shared some of her research, citing Dr. David Elkind, psychologist and educator, in his book, Egocentrism in Adolescence.

In case you haven’t noticed, I like to talk about the United Way of Wilson County. In part, I do so because it’s my job, but more than that, I do so because I believe in the things our United Way does for Wilson County. Normally, I present information about the programs specifically for Wilson County since that’s what our donors’ funds support.

It’s only practical there are mixed emotions relative to the newly proposed Wilson County Expo Center. As is the case with any major investment, there are pros and cons, and those involved are charged with the task of deciding if there are enough positive benefits to outweigh the perceived negatives to move forward with such an investment.
