To the Editor:
The discussion concerning the fireworks being held on Sept. 11 has been interesting. It is true that the events of Sept. 11, 2001 were horrible. However, the American people showed qualities that make America great.
We exhibited bravery, empathy, support and working together. Firefighters from across our country were there to help. Communities and organizations were on hand to feed and give support to victims of the tragedy. Americans showed their love of country in the airplane in Pennsylvania. For months and years, help was given to the families of the victims.
Americans celebrate the positive. Fireworks celebrating the American spirit shown on and after Sept. 11 is very appropriate.
I am proud to be an American.
