The Lebanon Democrat wants your help. We enjoy having the chance to share your stories, news and accomplishments with our thousands of readers. One of our goals has always been to provide you a forum too, where you not only can read the news, but also be a contributor.
As a daily community newspaper, we have the privilege of chronicling lives of our readers and the community we serve. The Democrat has historically published birth announcements, school accolades, athletic achievements, engagements, marriages, anniversaries and obituaries. Needless to say, most of our readers at some point in their life are likely to have appeared at least once in the pages of the newspaper.
We can’t reach our goal, though, without submissions from our family of readers that peak their interest, opinions and put a smile on their face by the occasional cute and memorable pictures which appear throughout the pages of the newspaper.
One example you could help with is if your church is having a special event, let us know. Does your grandchild have a birthday coming up? Or did you catch a big fish you want to boast about? With more than 60 pages each week, there is plenty of room for The Democrat to get your information published in the newspaper. To be honest, we’d prefer not to fill those pages each day alone, and insist using the information the community shares with us to fill our news holes.
And don’t hesitate to share your opinion with us either. It doesn’t matter if you feel strongly about school lunches or how the city government is spending tax dollars, your opinions are worth sharing. An opinion publicly expressed stirs emotions, and dialogue. Both of which are vital to improvement. So tell us what you think by submitting a letter to the editor or a guest column.
This community newspaper cares about the people we reach. In fact, we’ve been caring for this community for more than 126 years. Remember, though, we can’t do it all by ourselves. We need your help. After all, if it is important to you, then it is important to us.
