Letter to the Editor: Commercials shouldn't scream

To the Editor:

I have been endeavoring to ascertain just why the people who sell furniture and mattresses, feel that it is necessary to scream in their commercials. 

I would think that those with any type of a hearing disorder would have a volume enhancement control on their remote, thus making it unnecessary for the announcer to scream. We are not teaching our children very well when we allow them to watch such nonsense. They will soon feel like some people already do, that if you talk louder and over the other person who is trying to talk, you will eventually win the argument.

You can see this type of behavior on at least one of the morning talk shows. I’m not at liberty to say which one, but one word in the name of the show is “view.” That show sounds like a bunch of Canada geese going over real low. It makes me want to scream at the television and say, “shut up.”

Then I always remember the remote I’m constantly holding in my right hand, with my finger always on the “switch channel” button. One flip of the button, and they are out of my life. You don’t have to put up with the garbage constantly dumped into your living room through your television set. Stay in control. Flip the channel, or hit the “off” button. What a shame.
