Juliet and Wilson Emergency Management Agency for staging a mock accident, including an extrication as well as a visit from LifeFlight, to help impress upon students the consequences of driving under the influence.

Thumbs up to Wilson County’s Tennessee State University graduates who recently formed a local alumni chapter and created a scholarship program for Wilson County students interested in attending TSU. 

Thumbs up to the Eastern Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors, Wilson County title companies and the Wilson County Election Commission for partnering to make voter registration and voter registration maintenance a part of every real estate closing. 

Thumbs up to Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. shareholders for rejecting both non-binding advisory proposals put forward by Biglari Capital Corp. and other affiliates of Biglari Holdings Inc. The first proposal called for the board to immediately pursue all potential extraordinary transactions, including the sale of the company. The second called for the board to take any action necessary to amend the Tennessee Business Corporation Act to permit Biglari Capital to engage in an extraordinary transaction to buy the company.

Thumbs up to Air Force Airman 1st Class Amanda R. Miller, a 2013 graduate of Wilson Central High School, for graduating from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills. 

Thumbs up to country music singer and musician Charlie Daniels for dropping in to visit with Gladeville Elementary School students recently to talk about bullying.
