Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down: Dogs for Dogs to return for its second year

Thumbs up to Wilson Central High School teachers Brad Major and DeAna Elwell for working with students to continue the Dogs for Dogs event for the second year. The event, planned for Saturday at Cori’s DogHouse in Mt. Juliet, looks to raise money for the Mt. Juliet Animal Shelter, Country K-9 Rescue and Dreamland Animal Rescue.

Thumbs up to Wilson Central High School teachers Brad Major and DeAna Elwell for working with students to continue the Dogs for Dogs event for the second year. The event, planned for Saturday at Cori’s DogHouse in Mt. Juliet, looks to raise money for the Mt. Juliet Animal Shelter, Country K-9 Rescue and Dreamland Animal Rescue. 

Thumbs up to organizers of the first Jere’s Ride for raising more than $30,000 on April 26. The ride, in honor of the late Jere McCullough, will donate the funds to Empower Me Day Camp to help special needs children in Wilson County. 

Thumbs up to Pulse Salon in Lebanon and country music artist Aaron Tippin for raising funds to benefit Kailey Baird, 5, who has cystic fibrosis, during its Cuts for a Cause event Wednesday. 

Thumbs up to Lebanon postal carriers and all who plan to donate Saturday to feed the hungry. The postal carriers will pick up non-perishable food items and deliver them to the Wilson County Community Help Center. 

Thumbs up to John Hawkins, who recently joined First Freedom Bank in Lebanon as a relationship specialist. 

Thumbs up to Wilson Central High School right guard Jordan McCullough, who signed a scholarship Tuesday to play football for Maryville College. 

Thumbs up to Watertown’s Mallory Josey, Bailey Griffin, Shelby Hamlet and Tiffany Tomlinson, who were named to the All-District 8-A softball team. 

Thumbs up to former Vanderbilt and NFL free safety Brenard Wilson for joining the Mt. Juliet Christian Academy football coaching staff as defensive backs coach. 

Thumbs up to Mt. Juliet’s soccer team for making the District 9-AAA championship after two overtime wins.
