To the Editor: Claims that the public schools in Tennessee are indoctrinating children by teaching too much of any religion are a logical fallacy at best. Webster defines indoctrination as, “to teach (someone) to fully accept the ideas, opinions, and beliefs of a particular group and to not consider other ideas, opinions, and beliefs”.

I had a chance to indulge in one of my favorite activities last Wednesday. I left Tommy Knowles in charge of all activities in the Glade, and ventured over to the Mt. Juliet Masonic Lodge for breakfast.

First I would like to thank the staff of The Lebanon Democrat for printing my letters. Many news outlets today are so narrow and intolerant that they will not print any letter that disagrees with the staff position.

Sometimes looking into the dictionary is not enough. If you were to look up the word Christianity in Webster’s Dictionary, the first definition given is, “the religion derived from Jesus Christ, based on the Bible as sacred scripture, and professed by Eastern, Roman Catholic, and Protestant bodies.”

Not that awful long ago, a mom, dad and their little girl were enjoying a nice autumn Saturday drive through southern Wilson County. Down through Watertown, over to Norene, then a picnic in Cedars of Lebanon.
