Well, it’s summer time again, it happens every year, and though the kids are thrilled with the freedom summer brings, they can also become easily frustrated with the amount of unstructured time they suddenly have to fill. Shrieks of joy and celebration quickly turn into “I’m so bored!” and “I can’t find anything to do around here!” Often parents become frustrated as well because providing engaging activities for kids can be tough, especially when dealing with a tight budget.

Thumbs up to Habitat for Humanity of Wilson County, which will celebrate the completion of its 60th build locally Sunday as the organization helped Jennifer Clark build her home on Alydar Drive in Watertown. This year is the 20th anniversary of Wilson County’s Habitat for Humanity’s first home.

Thumbs up to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which partnered with Lyk-Nu Collison Center, Zaxby’s, Kroger, Walmart, OfficeMax and Dawson’s Bakery in Hermitage to make Lukas Hollis’ wish come true. Hollis, who has cancer, was presented a remodeled family-owned Jeep Grand Cherokee for his 16th birthday Sunday at the Norene Community Center.
