In situations such as the one where a director of schools admits in an open meeting he drank a beer and drove his county-issued vehicle home and reaches an agreement to part ways with his position he took less than a year from being hired, it’s safe to say new leadership is a welcome sight.

As you can probably tell by now, I’m pretty pumped about summertime for someone who can’t stand the heat for more than five minutes. There’s a certain magic to it: kids are out of school, pools are opening up, fireworks are lighting up the sky and scaring my dog - you get the picture.

Well, this past week in my sports world has been an up and down roller coaster ride. First, there was the dramatic win last Wednesday for the Vanderbilt Commodores in the College World Series that secured the first ever national title for a men’s sport at the school.
