Riverdale slams Devils

Lebanon beat the rain Tuesday night at Veterans Field.
But the Blue Devils failed to beat Riverdale, who used a second-inning grand slam by Chad Hunter to win 9-3.
Lebanon had just taken a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second on Drew Brockette's two-run single when Riverdale staged a six-run third against starter Christian Jennings, who failed to record an out, and reliever Garrett Fanchier, who finished up.
"[Hunter's] the best high school hitter I've seen in a long time," said Lebanon coach Tracy Slone, whose Blue Devils will get another crack at Riverdale at 6:30 p.m. tonight in Murfreesboro. "We might walk him four times [tonight]."
Cody Ferrell, who had half of Lebanon's six hits, singled home the Blue Devils' other run in the seventh. Brent Morris managed a pair of hits.
The Blue Devils dropped to 10-6 for the season and 1-2 in District 7-AAA while Riverdale is 5-0 in the league.
