BREAKING NEWS: Watertown gets first state tournament bid

WATERTOWN — After nearly a century of playing basketball, Watertown's boys advanced to their first TSSAA State Tournament by beating Grace Baptist 59-39 Monday night in Class A sectional action.

The Purple Tigers also reached 30 wins for the first time [against three losses] and will play at Middle Tennessee State's Murphy Center next week. Pairings will be drawn this weekend.

Wilson Central was on the wrong end of a first Monday as host Brentwood, which opened in 1982, punched its first state ticket with a 60-54 victory over the Wildcats, which advanced to Murfreesboro by beating the Bruins on the same floor one year ago. WCHS ended a 24-10 campaign.
